Re: Maintenance costs for 25-30ft keelboat.

I have had a 22' boat for three years and I find about $1500 worth of stuff to do it every year. Much of that is upgrades and projects, not just maintenance.

You can spend as much as you want to.

Re: Trailer Sailors and Standing Headroom

Since it's a thousand miles away you'd have to *really* want it, but on the off chance you are interested I'd be happy to check it out and take some pictures. It's a half hour drive for me, in a...

Re: Trailer Sailors and Standing Headroom

Re: Rerouting lines on an older boat

That is truly excellent advice!

I bought my boat (my first) in the fall and over the winter I came up with all sorts of boneheaded ideas about modifications I wanted to make. Fortunately I'm busy...

Re: Rerouting lines on an older boat

Re-running the lines was my second major boat project. I'm pretty new to boats, but it went OK for me. It was time consuming, but I could do it a lot faster if I did it again :)

I spent a lot of...

Re: Teaching on YOUR boat?

If you are compensated properly for your boat time it seems like it could be a very good deal.

I realize putting a boat in charter is the only way some people can make the expenses work, but...

Re: Shallow draft daysailer

When I was on Lake Superior last month I saw some people who had done that. We were surprised to see such a little boat out in the islands but I looked at a chart and we were only 4 miles from a boat...

Re: Windlass usage

Interesting timing. I wasn't on the lake last night, but I just read a report on our Facebook page that a Precision 23 had a bit on an incident. He anchored near a lee shore to help a dinghy that had...

Re: Aging casks onboard

You could speed that up.

If you test samples every fifteen minutes I think you'll find that by the end of the evening it's tasting quite good :)

Re: Learning the right way: advice needed!

As long as it's set up right a Catalina 22 is easy to single hand. I have a "tiller tamer" that will hold the tiller in place just long enough to let me attend to a couple other things. I often take...

Re: Advice From Young Punks

There are a lot of black bear. As long as they had the proper license shoot all that's legal.

Now if they were shooting endangered lions from game preserves that'd be a different thing.

Re: Help a newbie out-1980 Catalina 22 for $2350

That's about what I paid for my Catalina 22 (I have since put more than that into it).

Regarding the outboard situation, I have a 74 pound thrust trolling motor on mine and it does quite well with...

Praise for Taylor Made Products

I just want to give some praise to Taylor Made Products.

Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

I just installed the flag halyard at the beginning of June, so I don't have a lot of flags YET. So far just the Jolly Roger, pride, and some red white & blue banners.

But my wife and one of her...
