Re: Jib will not unroll completely

Mine also did this a few seasons ago. Seized under load. I ended up having to replace mine (15-20 years old). I got a Harken Cruising II.

Re: Towing Services

Re: Right Sailboat for Severn River??

Agree. 5' 6" is the absolute upper limit for the river ... I'm drawing 3'9" with my board up. For the river, I usually put the board half down (whatever that ends up being) ... but not all the way...

Re: Right Sailboat for Severn River??

Relax people. It's a conversation about a sailboat, not the Spanish Inquisition.

For the Severn River, I would try to get a shoal draft sailboat (5'6" or less). This is also helpful outside of...

Re: Right Sailboat for Severn River??

I'm just across the river in Severna Park. You are 6.5 to 7 mi. to the mouth of the river. About 50-60 min at hull speed. From Millersville you will enjoy a great sail down the river and may be...

Re: Ugly Boats

The Trailways boat isn't ugly because it has a sense of humor. It's kinda awesome.

Re: Wave powered propeller

There are wind generators that flip down to generate power off the water current while underway, but I don't think they are meant to power the boats propulsion.

Re: One Last "All is Lost " thread

I finally saw this movie. I thought it as was a good film. Not an instructional video. Not a movie about doing all the right things. Just a convincing story about Our Man's struggle and accepting...

Re: Watches

I think that the playing field for watch technology has evened out such that you don't have to spend a small fortune on a timepiece anymore. Accurate time keeping, kinetic motion powered,...

Thru- vs In-hull transducers

I need to replace my depth and speed instruments (original from 1979). What is the performance difference between a thru-hull and in-hull depth transducer? Is my 1970's fiberglass too thick to use an...

Re: Cruising on $10k a month.........Powerball Winner

Re: Cruising on $10k a month.........Powerball Winner

Even with newly found deep pocketed funds, would you prefer a megayacht with a crew or a sizable yacht that you could still sail yourself? Don't say both (even though that would be the logical...

Re: Sailing Yacht worth $14,000,000

Now I feel silly. That is how much I've spent on restoring our boat so far. Don't tell my wife.
