Re: New Lehr propane outboard

Same here ... bought a Lehr2.5 at the start of this season, been using it all summer long, very happy with it and wouldn't want to switch back to gas.

Regarding the comments about "cheaply made...

Re: anchoring story ... your opinion sought

The "preposterous" rock snag "theory" was proposed by the superyacht's captain ... and yes, we are in a rather rocky cruising area. This anchorage has a fairly strong 2-3 knot tidal current ... the...

Re: anchoring story ... your opinion sought

In principle, I agree that the "last person to anchor" bears responsibility for sensible anchoring ... but I disagree with the cause of our collision.

When I initially anchored, the other boat (on...

Re: anchoring story ... your opinion sought

Jon, love the story ... maybe I'll just fwd it to my superyacht's captain - I have his email - and see what he thinks :))

There was no damage to my boat. We really only touched very gently, and...

anchoring story ... your opinion sought

Ahoi sailnet'ers, I have a little anchoring story to share, and would like to ask your opinions ... it's really mostly a learning experience for me:

Re: Got my hands on the new propane outboard today...

Since the 1st week of June, until now, I've spent only 2x 1lb of propane, and have just started the 3d.

I have a 6.8' dinghy ... my usage is probably "very light duty", i.e. my mooring is only a...

Re: Got my hands on the new propane outboard today...

I bought one (2.5HP) at the start of this season and so far love it. Relatively frequent (4-5 times a week) shuttle duty between the dinghy dock and my mooring in the past couple of months, I'm only...

Re: Small boat single handed hoisting

my boat has a gentle weather helm, so here's what I do: set the boat on a close-hauled tack, tie off the tiller (or wheel) so she's self-balanced. move traveller to leward and give the mainsheet some...

Re: Propane dinghy engine

I bought the 2.5HP ahead of this season. So far so good ... quiet, smooth, easy start. I mostly use my dinghy to get to my mooring, and this little engine does the job pretty well.

Re: Ever been injured on your boat? Just happened to me.

Every spring, at the start of each season, my boat "beats me up" pretty badly .... there's plenty of blood, skin, tears and cursing. I like to imagine that she missed me and is punishing me for...

Re: Custom Engine Panel Design

ASDF - is there a reason why the buzzer needs to be mounted on the panel? I'm thinking it may be possible to simplify / save some panel space, and the buzzer would likely be very audible even if...
