Is it feasible to have a repair done to your mast? Perhaps had a welder reinforce the suspect area then just repaint the entire rig?

I've got the same scenario and PSS folks told me the same. Just make sure you burp it once a year, on hauls or if you hear any noises. I have mine on 10 yrs now.

I do not think its at all good for a boat to be locked in 3-4 feet of ice. However, I believe that the damage comes when the ice starts to move away as it breaks-up/thaws. Locked in ice is not good...
