Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Barquito:
I would be lost without my RP-HP. That one is about 30 years old. I like the feel of it and the wide spaced buttons. I have never replaced the battery. I get very confused without Reverse...

Re: "New" Cal Boats Made in USA?

I detect a theme here that a "new Cal" would just be another old boat. I don't see it that way at all. I see a totally new design embodying American values for styling, accommodations and...

Re: "New" Cal Boats Made in USA?

Sign me up for that effort. I think we are getting "Euro'ed" to death over here. What ever happened to American yachts style. I have a new 44'er starting build in January. It's a custom project....

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

I was a bit down in the dumps Monday and I remembered what my 5'2" doctor, Dr. Patel, told me about dealing with depression, "You should go to the boatyard more often." she is a wise lady.
So I...

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

I went to visit my buddy up in Port Townsend. He has an alu boat. I had made an offhand comment that I should come up and get a welding lesson. He said "Come on up." So I did. I had blast and after...

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Faster:
I drew a detailed deck plan. I provided dimensions for where all the major components would go. That was mocked up in timber early on with most of the hardware mounted and operational. Then...

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Those little "thingies" are hand holds that will be sprinkled throughout the interior. They will be finished bright CF with the ends painted.
They are just...

I went to the yard yesterday and did my best with the camera. I thin k the photos are self explanatory but ask questions if you like. I'm happy to answer them.

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Overbored:
Yes, the top is sealed but removable. The top of the chest is high enough above the DWL that it will not be a problem.

No we will not exit the engine exhaust through the sea chest....

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Brains:
The client's wife said a week ago that she has never seen him happier.

Rob:
There is a dump chest forward. Brown water will be macerated first then run out the opening in the keel...

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Denda:
No too sure yet how we will handle that.

Brains:

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

Yes, we are lucky to have such talent at the yard. I say it, they do it. Pretty much just like that. Everybody mucks in with ideas.

Out:
We have two sea chests and no through hulls below the DWL....

Re: Riblets

Riblets were tried on AC boats about 35 years ago and were thought to be helpful. I have not heard anything about them since. I suspect not.

Re: Bob Perry's Carbon Cutters

I was adamant that we have a star on the end of the sprit, like the old guys. But we also needed a fairlead for the asym tack line that runs internal in the sprit. Titanium seemed the right choice,...
