Cool Re: Rediscovering one's "Self"

I see you have this all figured out but Cap, and I mean this in the nicest possible way: You have posted 20 something times across the board here in the last 24 hours. I get you are not jumping my...

Re: $3500 inexpensive bluewater cruiser

I'm thinking the Catalina will always worth something. That's a plus. Forget about bluewater cruising. Get real.

Smile Re: Rediscovering one's "Self"

Geez Donna, now ya got ol Mr. Bubs all fired up and wanting explanations! No one can counter his incisive thrusts. But this isn't about me. I was responding to what I considered a silly callow post....

Re: ebay purchase gone bad: 1/4" G43 anchor chain

That alone is one of the very few reasons to like WM in spite of the often ridiculous pricing. Another is the OP's situation where he wanted the quality. I think West is trustworthy and buys the good...

Smile Re: Rediscovering one's "Self"

Perhaps, Donna, perhaps. This is your second similar comment even though I understood your point the first time. Is Sailnet just for head-nodders? Are critical views not allowed? Is everyone equal...

Smile Re: ebay purchase gone bad: 1/4" G43 anchor chain

I have not lost money on a couple of similar ebay hassles but it is a hassle and takes a lot of time. Amazon handles these issues in hours giving customers the benefit of the doubt. A better business...

Cool Re: Rediscovering one's "Self"

I can read no further but I gots to say that a 25 yr old ain't gonna know what waiting for Godot is all about.

I avoid Sailnet for years on end because of these kinds of posts.

How can so many...

I haven't checked that out but maybe I will. I'm not too worried about being "that guy" but I take your point. Thx

Re: Why All the Absurd Circumnavigation Threads?

Yeah Med, and Donna. I know, I know. Crazy is tilting at windmills when ya know what they are. I keep poking around for a default forum of smart experienced boaters. Doers not dreamers. Sailing 201....

Wink Re: How do you tow your inflatable RIB?

Having slept on my previous post, rather than offer an apology, I would now like to propose a new sub-forum for folks just fooling on the net around along the lines of:

Dudes, I'm sitting at work...

Post Re: Why All the Absurd Circumnavigation Threads?

This is my issue with the truly absurd # of circ threads. Plus all the posturing and strutting. The buying of a serious boat or the endless discussion of what makes a real boat. How much plug and...

Unhappy Re: How do you tow your inflatable RIB?

I don't think it's clear when you are joking around, sir, and it's definitely not funny stuff. I think a 10'RIB on a 26' boat is ridiculous. Was that the joke? Or was the boat a big chick magnet...

Talking Re: Phantom Current Drain

UPDATE: The current drain was from the house bank to the Balmar. What made that less obvious than you'd think was that the drain was thru the 3 way toggle controlling the Balmar alternator.

In...

Re: Phantom Current Drain

Gotta think that thru Capt Len. Thanks.

Wasn't able to buy a clamp-on ammeter locally so a short delay (can't help myself being so punny). 4 amps is a lot. Something has to be hot. Starting to...

Re: Phantom Current Drain

Many thanks for this. It's early here and I haven't had any coffee yet but this sounds like a very promising lead... I am not beyond an elec pun. Seems like a case for having the clamp on ammeter....

Question Phantom Current Drain

Newish to me boat: My Xantrex LinkLite generally reads minus ~3.8 amps with everything off on the 12v side. I've never actually believed that it was a negative drain, preferring to think that it was...

Re: Finally finished my Chameleon nesting dinghy!

I think I may start building soon. I've lofted a 24' cat, and Greene's previous 2 Bits so I can do it but wonder if the time saved with the full patterns might be worthwhile. On the coachroof...

Copa, I have the plans but didn't get full size patterns. How did you do it? If lofted, any real trouble doing that? Thx

Re: Looking for other Cal 29 owners..

Can't seem to upload file. Not much to see. The lavatory faucet has a flexible hose with head, and there is an overhead rail for curtain. Drain on sole at main bulkhead into bilge.

Cool Re: Looking for other Cal 29 owners..

My "new" 1976 2-29 has a shower/head between the Vberth and "saloon."

I'm curious about other cockpit layouts. Mine has the MS traveler at present close (too close) to the companionway. However,...
