Re: Moody 425 as a bluewater cruiser

I have Dixon designed Moody with the bolts recently replaced. It was done in the water and cost something less than $1200.

Re: How do you rig your courtesy flag?

There are pins that are spring loaded with one end to go around the line and loop pin on the other end for the flag.

Re: Sailing with excess brain power

Having raced for a few years with a crew that consisted of a neurosurgeon, a pancreatic surgeon, a dentist and a couple of engineers I can safely say we all have our moments of idiocy.

Re: I Paid a Dude. And I Liked It.

The person might not be rich relative to their neighbor but I guarantee that person is rich compared to most of the world. It is a point I try regularly to remind myself.

Re: Best of these Florida cities for sailing

I do like the "redneck riviera" due to the colourful water though not as popular as others as a boating destination. I think it would be nice to have the Bahamas nearby.

Re: Best inflatable pfd with harness.

Also have the spinlock deckvest. Do not like the leg straps as they slide down and then get caught on my hamstrings so I am stooped over until I can tend to it. Unfortunately it is a real nuisance...

Re: Location suggestions

I guess I should have said I am not looking for a new but used boat. My experience is that a lot of places/marinas I have been to have a vast assortment of boats for sale. I am just trying to not...

Re: Location suggestions

I would say I am of the opposite opinion. I think most boats for sale are not listed on yachtworld etc and there are some gems to be found walking the docks. However, I will still consult the...

Re: Location suggestions

Not afraid of too much there Chuck, as I said I just don't think it is relevant to the question.

There are plenty of other threads I could peruse to find information on those questions. I am not...

Re: How do I keep bow from falling off the wind anchoring?

I would suggest if anchoring under sail is after you have your scope out hoist the mainsail and with the traveler centred let out enough sheet to be on a beam reach. When the bow starts to turn you...

Re: Location suggestions

Not sure if that information would be pertinent. I am looking at boats mainly along the coast in the areas listed above - if that helps. Thanks for the response though.

Re: New EU Schengan Visa

Minne - I would think if you have been married for a period of time you could easily be granted UK citizenship. It would be your EU membership card. I am 99.9% certain there would be no tax...

Location suggestions

I am starting to shop for my next boat next week. The plan is to head for Texas and then east to Florida. After that it is up the East coast. I am fairly aware of all the larger centers where boats...

Re: Night Ops

I would suggest starting off early in the morning and get a hour or two in before sunrise. Do that a few times to get comfortable with it. If problems arise you will not have too long for light. This...
