Re: Hello to all from a Sailnet newbie with a CS36t

Thank you, Vasco. I will humour you on that account;) A friend of mine has the Merlin, and a fine cruising boat it is! I considered the Merlin in my boat search and though I liked it a lot, I...

Re: Do you wear a life jacket?

Yes, I wear an inflatable life jacket and tether when I sail alone, and, with crew, when conditions are anything less than calm. I know, if I go overboard, getting back on the boat will be a...

Re: Hello sail-net,new here

Welcome from a fellow Sailnet Newbie. Florida, huh? I guess it is not -18 Celsius there and you are not wondering if you used enough antifreeze; not that I am the least bit envious. . .

Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

I guess I do consider it a bit lame, yes, but I have known some sailors who fly them. Some people get riled about the rape and murder thing, but, since Hollywood's Jolly Roger is most often seen on...

Re: Hello to all from a Sailnet newbie with a CS36t

Thanks! I find that the diversity of opinions voiced on SailNet, taken collectively (and with varying doses of salt) actually do help to inform one's own opinion. Also, I am new to SailNet, but not...

Re: Hello to all from a Sailnet newbie with a CS36t

Thank you, boatpoker! It is always reassuring to hear someone confirm I have made a good choice, especially since I had to give up a boat that I loved.
In answer to your other post below, the new...

Re: Anchor windlass installation on CS36T - What's your set-up?

Thanks Margo, I think I've got it now. I have seen a couple of boats (not CS) with a vertical windlass in the deck just aft of the rode locker and no visible chain pipe through the deck. I assumed...

Hello to all from a Sailnet newbie with a CS36t

I am not only new to Sailnet; I have never before been on a forum of any kind so I am really a newbie here. I have browsed the forum to learn the protocol, and I'm still stumbling around a bit (for...

Re: Anchor windlass installation on CS36T - What's your set-up?

Hello Margo,
The installation you describe sounds less labour-intensive than modifying the anchor locker and that makes it attractive. I guess if your windlass is the type with an integral chain...

Re: Anchor windlass installation on CS36T - What's your set-up?

Thanks for the reply, Jim.
Did you like your set up? I imagine the existing anchor locker was left intact, and the mounting box was bolted to the bottom at the aft end of it. Is that correct? Since...
