Re: C&C 33 mk1 vs 34 vs Landfall 35

Silver;
Good topic.
I own a C&C 35-1, and race in a fleet that includes a 34, a 33-1, a 33-2, and a number of 25-30 foot C&C's.

In the 90's, this particular 33-1 won everything there was to win...

Re: I hate boats...

Hey Med;
I have no insight, but I'm reading this thread with interest.

Just thought I'd point out that I'm impressed with your conduct in a number of ways - for a guy with a young family, you're...

Re: Boomkicker and winter storage

I agree with recent posters.
I live in Port Dover.
Canadian winters on the North Shore of Lake Erie are not as rough as Michigan...

Boom off and inside the boat, or in the rafters at home.
Mast...

Re: Problem Turning Windward

I think DavidPM answered the questions you had for me...but I'll repeat.

1 - why does fighting with the tiller slow you down? Anytime the rudder is more than 2-3 degrees away from straight fore...

Re: Problem Turning Windward

CCriders just addressed the issue I thought no one was going to - the OP's original statement was something like 'won't sheeting the jib in tight help turn the boat into the wind?'

No - it will...

Re: What do cruisers do?

To get back to the point of the thread, NOB, the thing that keeps popping into my head when I read your comments is the 2 words that keep repeating - 'do' and 'thing'.
I think you're growing towards...

Re: Why do you race

ABH3;
Why race? Lots of reasons:
1. I'm competitive, in almost every avenue of my life. I'm too old to play volleyball, football, and some of the other pastimes I used to compete in at the level...

Re: How to SPINNAKER rig!! HELP!

Grampian;
Don't worry too much about it...I was in the same boat as you 3 years ago. Literally. (Tanzer 22, never flown spinnaker)

So - first thing, congrats on a great boat. T22's are an...

Re: What's cradle worth

Not sure I agree so far.
Where I'm at, you pay for the boat storage by square footage, PLUS stand rental.
Stand rental for a 30 footer is $84 for a winter.
Cradle is likely worth about $300,...

Re: C&C 32 vs C&C 35 mk3

OMG...There is NO excuse for not paying the extra $5K for the 35-3...(assuming all other things equal and you actually LIKE the boat)

CC35-3's are terrific boats, and will last you forever if you...

There is an endless list of things to do!
I love the Marina atmosphere - so any excuse to hang out at the boat - painting, bedding hardware, sanding, varnishing, maintenance, canvas projects.

Re: Considering a foam luff on a 150 LP cruising sail

Hey Joe!
I have a couple of thoughts...I, like you, typically sail in a light air area. Not only do I have a 155% RF Genoa, I have 3 167% sails as well. One for super-light air (cloth is almost...

Re: Hank on conversion to roller? Yes or no

Re: Hank on conversion to roller? Yes or no

Forgot to mention - you should budget about $500 per sail for the re-cut, luff tape, and UV for a 30-footer.

Re: Hank on conversion to roller? Yes or no

Alex - as usual, I agree with you on almost all points.

To the OP - I have done the conversion on my old S2 8.0 - 26 footer. We put a Harken roller furling on, and had our moderately used 150%...

Re: Do I need Foulies?

There's some good advice here.
The best analogy I ever heard was on a 10-hour race across Lake Erie in June, in the rain.
I was wearing a wind suit from my athletics days, a polar fleece, and...
