It is my understaning that with the newer phones all you need is a serial cable, the modem is built into the newer phones.

Cost of depth sounders vs fishfinders

Yeah and just last week Mr Limpet help me avoid a rock.
My tri-ducer is located forward of the keel and my unit has an offset for the depth. I still find the botom type usefull at anchor time.

I like my fish finder. One instrument for less than the price of 2 sailing instruments (depth and Speed)! Another advantage you can see the bottom type.

I have been looking at a few marinas in FT Pierce. I think I will end up choosing Harbortown. I did not care for the parking at the city dock.

leaking holding tank

I had the same problem on my 1983 Allmand 35. My tank was inaccessible also as with many boats are built from the hull up. I decided against a repair attempt, nothing like having that go bad on you...

I would say it depends on the size of your boat. If you have a good Nav station you may want to do like I''m doing. I have the GIII also, I plan to using it to interface with my notebook computer...

You are correct, your hull would be the 35th in that model line. I have the full break out at home. My last 4 are M83A which I would assume has the boat built in Aug of 1982. The book I have states...
