we have a raymarine 6000 series that is connected to the quadrant. after breaking old steering cables once or twice, I wouldn't go with a wheel mounted AP. Trimming your sails well really take the...

Re: Amuse me, sailing small boat offshore.

So many people sail offshore asleep. Just use your common sense. You are out there and hitting something is not really in your hands, stray container, whale, large floating debris.

Re: Forces on a dockline while docking....

Re: Which boat in a gale; apples and oranges

umm, I think the biggest issue is livability in rough seas and weather. Boats designed for coastal cruising have lots of space and that means lots of bruises when you venture forward to use the head...

Re: Skilled helmsman steering downwind in 30-40 knots...

After reading all these stories I am so glad I bought a full keel canoe stern sailboat. When we have been in over 30 knots our boat loves it. The autopilot barely has to do anything, she just surfs...

once away from major shipping lanes (gulf stream,...

buy it and get the state registration (you may have to pay taxes though).

When you sail into most caribbean ports they will ask for papers... they don't verify those papers and if they do most...
