Here's the thing. People use gas engines all the time, you just have to be (very) careful. If you like the boat, the fact that it is not diesel should not be a deal stopper. What is a deal stopper...

The boat yard in Santa Cruz has been taken over by the Port District. It is now a DIY (or use contractors off of a supplied list) boatyard.
