Thanks for your reply!!

I did coat the rudder with one layer of glass mat plus another layer about 1ft over and under the water line, also it has two coats of epoxy resin, 4 coats of 2 part epoxy...

Great choice, raising and lowering the mast every time gets old pretty fast, and that means you will consequently sail less.

I have used the gin pole method you see all over the net, be sure to have the "A" frame set up as to hold the mast from going sideways while lifting, it can be done cheaply with some 2x4's, some...

I have a catalina 22 and I run a 4 hp (mercury) at half throttle I can cruise at 6Knts (oddly over hull speed) . but I'm in an inland lake...
