Re: Nexus Autopilot lurches left?

Since the fault developed, have you carried out a compass set-up for the autopilot?

I had a similar problem with a Raymarine autopilot, but that was one wire that broke off the fluxgate compass.

Re: B&G Network Wind

I would not use WD40 on anything that you wish to work again!! It is one of the most overrated water displacement products on the market.

Once the solvent evaporates, it leaves a sticky residue....

Re: Finding the right Instrument

The NASA Marine wind instruments are of quite good quality. The back-up from the makers is one of the best - albeit in the UK.

My wind head lost the vane and cups during last winter. NASA replaced...

Re: Trickle charger for winter storage

I have three x 105Ah batteries in parallel and use a three stage charger that has a float charge as the last stage.

This keeps the batteries topped up without over-charging them and requires very...

Re: Install anchor chain markers

I have done just that on the pontoons of a dock.

I pulled the chain out to 12metre lengths (chart depths are usually in metres), bringing the next length alongside the previous length. It was...

Re: US Supplier for Anchorman Power 700 parts?

Since S-L went out of business, there is only the one supplier of parts, and he used to work for them. He bought up what he was able to when the company went bust.

Re: C-Map Updates

Take your card to a local chandlery/marine electronics outlet/store, and they should be able to update your card. If the card is too small for the update, they should give you a new card f.o.c.

Re: Solenoid switch does not shut off propane

Yet another (possibly stupid) thought. Is the solenoid fitted the right way around? Inlet and outlet - if the wrong way around, gas would always flow.

Re: Solenoid switch does not shut off propane

Just, (maybe) a stupid thought, but could the solenoid valve be on the heater line and not on the stove line, as you have replaced all the pipework from the gas bottle??

Re: Reverse Does not work, sometimes

Do you have an MS2 gearbox fitted?

If so, it could be the cone clutch that is worn and slipping when warm, but OK when cold and backing out of your berth.

This usually happens when forwards...

Re: In reverse while sailing?

Volvo Penta MS2 gearbox must be left in neutral when on a shaft driven prop. It's in the owners manual.

If left in astern, it can jam the cones, and if put in ahead, it will wear the cones.
