Thanks Redline for the input and great info. Can't for the life of me understand why there are two sources for MMSI but 'it is what it is.'

Hi all,

I'm confused, which at my age doesn't take much, about entering my MMSI into my VHF. Our boat came with the radio, therefore, I don't know how many different MMSI numbers have been added....

Re: Vhf/ham

Thanks for your input.

It seem that all things that come out of Washington are convoluted and, seemingly, intentionally, obtuse thereby creating jobs for overpaid, undereducated drones. O.K., so...

Desert Rat,
Thanks for the reply but it doesn't quite answer my question.

Vhf/ham

We want to start cruising but are confused about what is required for a radio aboard. We know we don't need a license for our VHF in US waters but one we leave the US we have to have a FCC license. ...

Floor leaks in dinghy

We just bought a used dinghy. It has an inflatable floor that sits on top of an inflatable keel. The top side of the floor has a series of pinhole leaks. Is there a fix that anyone knows of for...

Hi Westerml,
I had my existing exhaust riser welded and it has functioned fine since. However, it cost me $200 to have this done and after I found a new one on ebay for $80. Day late and a dollar...

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

westerml,
This is the info I used, supplied by another 'Sailnet' user. The local "Yacht" dealer wanted $450 for the fresh water pump. I got it on ebay for $72. Good luck. I hope this info...

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

What these distributors are doing to sailors is obscene. I am wondering what, if anything, can be done about the rape of the marine community?

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

MarkSF,
Thanks, about $350 worth. That is the difference between what a local yacht sales place and ebay charges for the same pump. Now I have to spend that amount of money on antacids because I'm...

Rounded bolts and/or nuts

I don't know if it's o.k. to mention a specific product or not but I'll try. I had a 17mm bolt that ran into the rear of my Universal engine. The bolt held a bracket that had rusted through. First...

Re: Lettering Removal

Thanks guys for your input. I did try a plastic razor and sanding with 800-1200 sandpaper was my next option. Just wanted to be lazy and avoid it. Thanks again.
