Re: EPIRB battery replacement

Re: EPIRB battery replacement

If you plan to race offshore, the DIY job will not meet ISAF regs. I'll be selling my EPIRB for that reason.

Re: Do I need new sails

Photos would help! What sort of boat?
If you are happy with the sails, then no.
If you can't point as high as you should, that's an indication that the sails might be shot. If you heel...

Re: Hello Sailnet.. new P28 here

Doug,

Yes, that's Thoe! Make sure the base of the mast is solid or the step has been raised. You have a great boat!
If you are down by South River, I have a C&C 35/3, The Office.

Re: Tacktick wind direction failed

I'd check with RayMarine. Sounds like the transmitter is bad. I had the opposite situation - direction worked fine, speed was erratic. Luckily it was under warranty or it would have been a $200...

Re: Which weather/wind apps & sites are most accurate?

Passageweather.com gives two different models. WindAlert and wind guru can be good. No one site is great all the time.

Re: 1979 C & C 30 Mk1

I'd repost under the Atomic 4 thread.

Sounds like a wiring/corrosion issue, but I'm no expert on A4's.

Re: Changing forward hatch direction

Sounds like you have Atkins and Hoyle hatches. Yes, they can be reversed. Just did the Annapolis Bermuda race and return. Made the hatches aft facing so we could have ventilation when conditions...

Re: 3GM tach

The pick up is on the flywheel, not based on the alternator. Could be a corroded connection, bad pick up or bad tach.

Re: Charter fleet ownership

So for a hypothetical $200,000 boat (I know that's low) let me see -
$50,000 down
12 year loan @ 5.5 % = 1450 month
ROI of 1500 month

After 5 years I'd...
