Works together like a perfect relationship.
I rarely have to worry...

Re: Beware..Pirates of the Caribbean

Somehow I doubt the cruisers will board your vessel, threaten your family at gun point and steal everything they can. Until you have experienced this, as I have, you have no idea frekin what your...

Re: Companionway Hatch

I replaced all my hatch and port lites / select plastics in norwalk, ct. Great people to work w/ and were cheaper than my local glass shop.

Re: Rocna vs. CQR dimensions

Can't remember where I saw it but they mounted the bowsprit on the hull just below the toe rail. Was a brilliant solution to the problem.

Re: WAECO ADLER BARBOUR CU-200 Air/Water-Cooled Super ColdMachine Compressor

Installed one on the previous boat. Was in the cockpit locker on the bulk head to the galley. Was audible but not annoying.
Installed 2 isotherms on the current boat. Separate fridge and freezer. ...

Re: What constitutes an 'experienced sailor'?

I have a friend that is a very experienced racer. 40 years in the cockpit. Absolutely looses his mind when he can't see land.

Solar/wind charge controller

Adding more solar.
Will have 300w of solar plus rutland 914 wind gen. Current charge controller will only handle 160w of solar. Any suggestions on a hybrid controller.

Re: Powering Bilge at Mooring Ball/Power Question

Sorry but that makes absolutely no sense at all.
Your plan is to show up at the boat and see the mast sticking out of the water to know if you have a leak. I'm sure your insurance company will love...

Re: Pros and Cons of Folding Propellers:Avoid J Props

Didn't notice any downsides. Rpm's and speed the same.
Plus sides. Prop walk in reverse pretty much went away and no loud clunk when you engage reverse.

Re: Dripless shaft seal

The fiberglass tape is strong enough to repair an axe handle and will bond to pipes and hoses. Wouldn't expect it to stop a pressure leak but it sure could help to control it.

Re: Pros and Cons of Folding Propellers:Avoid J Props

2nd the KIWI. Love ours. IFIRC it was about $1500. The other prop I was considering at the time was a Flexefold. That estimated out at $3700. Figured the KIWI was worth the gamble. Great prop.

Re: Sleeping with the heat on...

Espar forced hot air but I usually shut it down when we go to bed and get up early to turn it back on and go back to bed while the cabin warms up. Also have a CO detector.

Re: Noise pollution in the anchorage

I don't think most posters here comprehend the noise level the OP is talking about.
Cheap 3 blade wind generators make a very high pitched whine that is very unpleasant. I did a ton of research to...
