Re: Marina Del Rey to Catalina

First weekend of October is Buccaneer Days at the Isthmus, it will be packed with pirates. Don't expect to show up Saturday morning and get a mooring.

Expect some overflow to Avalon.

I'm trying to get my toilet back together and I'm not sure how the packing installs. If I put the packing in there's no thread available for the packing cap. Am I supposed to smash it in there first?...

Re: old sails?

Find somebody who knows how to sail to see if they can tell you if you're doing something wrong. Your local yacht club is a good place to start, tell them you have a sailboat and are interested in...

Re: AC72 - On Foils

I bet for the $10M price tag of an AC72 you could get a pretty fast power boat... and you wouldn't need a crew of world class sailors to get it up to speed either.

Re: Just looked at a Cheoy Lee today...

When you figure out the bare minimum to sail the boat--repair motor, replace rigging, replace rudder, batteries, rewire, and you're not even to cabinetry or teak refinish or painting... you're...

Re: How would you improvise a sail for an inflatable dinghy

I thought about a wind surfing rig but figured that would be too much sail and $$$ to get my hands on.

I like the tent idea... I've got a tent with a rain fly... I could rig that as long as we've...

Re: I think I may do some racing!!!

Re: Is she bluewater? Interesting story to help with these questions.

If you have to ask if a boat is ready for blue water, the answer you should be given is always no.

Why? Because if you're ready for blue water sailing, you can answer the question yourself. And...
