Where we have our mooring, ice is a problem. Lots of ice. Some use a dark colored "winter stick" with success. Some have had their mooring moved by the ice and the stick.

Us, we drop everything...

Placing a winter stick is the law in many municipalities, it is here in the 1200+ mooring anchorage in Falmouth, ME...

Poorly executed anything is bad, but a winter stick should be no different...

I tried marine silicone goop and it did not keep the water out for a week. I think when the plastic gets too brittle it is time to junk the dink. It seems when you fiberglass one bad spot another...

If it is indeed plastic West Systems G/flex is what your looking for. It works on HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PVC, and polycarbonate. I believe Sandpipers are made out of ABS plastic.
