The great lakes feighters have an all around light for a mast head light/stern light. And that light is higher then your sail boat's.

Just go under a low bridge, that will remove the mast.
Took 4.5 feet off the mast of the supply boat I was operating... Had a mate who (according to him), knew every thing about the area water ways...

Was on one boat when lightening struck. Blew out the SSB antenna, the Antenna tuner and the SSB, then went to ground via the grounding strap for the SSB.:eek:

A good rule of thumb when anchoring: 5 to 7 times the depth of the water at high tide and if you have to go out to 10 times the depth it is time to find another anchorage.
Plus an anchor light...

in harbors like that you should only approach at about a half hour before slack water. Check your current tables to find the times for slack water. And if the wind and current are opposing each...
