Re: Marinas with slip price reduction...?

A yearly rental at Bowleys is about $2300 for a 30' boat. If you add $550 haul out to that, it still sounds cheap to me. Some places get more than that for the season.

Re: Marinas with slip price reduction...?

One of the best deals I've come across on the upper bay is Bowleys on the Middle River. The in/out access to the Bay is minimal. The rates are very low, considering they are for the year. Rates...

Re: Portable Generator

Probably depends on the boat. On my catamaran with outboards, with engines raised, and the gen. sitting on the aft quarter in the slipstream, it works quite well.

Re: Portable Generator

Jon, I agree with you most of the time, but some folks have to charge their batteries. So, should they sail with the engine running, or drop sails and motor, or sail and run a small generator....

Re: Milford and Port Washington

When we stopped in Port Washington a few years back, they offered a free mooring for 2-3 days. Nice. Lot of good eateries too.

Re: Going under! BB Bridge

Sorry. I didn't mean it as an insult. It's just that a boat like yours is capable of so much more.
I keep my boat at Neshaminy Marina for the winters, but then head off to places more suitable for...

Baltimore inner harbor

Hi, I haven't been to the Inner Harbor in years. Is the city dock still the bargain it used to be. There was always space, and they used the same facilities as the expensive marina next store. Just...

Re: Going under! BB Bridge

Looks great. So, where are you headed now. The Delaware is no place for a boat like yours.

Re: AC recharging

Thanks everyone. It seems this is not a DIY project. I guess I'll have to get a Pro to look at it.
Thanks, Marc

AC recharging

Can an auto parts store AC kit be used to add refrigerant to a 12500 btu Cruisair AC unit? I'd like to do it myself, if possible.
Thanks, Marc

You're right Gary. I read this book several years ago while sailing south. Fascinating.

Re: St. Mike's assist?

I'm sorry. But really, whatever happened to sailors being self-sufficient? You know, like getting off of your iphone, and walking up to the main street and having your pick of a 1/2 dozen stores that...

Re: Us Sailboat Show

In past years I found Weems Creek to be the ideal spot. A well protected anchorage, and the dinghy landing is a few blocks from the Naval Academy Stadium, where the free shuttle to the show is. Also...

Re: yamaha 9.9 outboard help.

The choke solenoid sits atop the carb. That may need to be cleaned or replaced. Try holding the linkage to see if the choke is the problem. I have 2 9.9,s and before I try to start them, I aways pump...

Re: Moving to Coastal Delaware

I've kept my boat in Atlantic City for the past 8 years, a similar situation as yours. The ocean amost always has a breeze for sailing, but for a weekend cruise, there's hardly anywhere to go. On the...

Re: NorthEast MD with a sailboat?

I wintered across the river from Northeast, in Charlestown for several years. A winding channel must be followed, but then it opens up to a wider bay.
Havre De Grace has a long, very narrow channel...

Re: How do you rig your jacklines?

When singlehanding offshore I rig a tight line from the bow cleat to the stern cleat, and outside of and high up on the shrouds I guess you couldn't call it a jackline. It's more of an additonal...

Re: Anyone in Cape May?

Hi, For the last several times I've been throuh Cape May, I've anchored behind the light( FR "14") where you turn for the canal. It's about 8' with good holding. In Atlantic City, many boats anchor...
