Re: Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

Alex, thanks for information and actually it looks like my change may be in line with what you saw with this final modification. I replaced 17x10 two blade with a Campbell Sailor 16x8 three blade....

Re: Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

Cliff508, some measurements for you from my Cal 35 MkII (1983):
9-3/4" from shaft end to rudder
7" to shaft centerline from boat bottom at the forward point of the cutlass bearing in strut.
9-1/2"...

Re: Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

Cliffs508: that does not sound right only being able to fit a 14" diameter prop. My Cal 35 MkII (1983) original prop was a 17" 10 pitch RH and my current Campbell Sailor is a 16" 8 pitch ( i am...

Re: Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

Thanks for the additional info. I went from 2-Blade 17x10 to 3-Blade CS 16x8. Not as much pitch drop as you but thought to be a good fit based on past jobs and my set up with motor and tranny. My...

Re: Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

Thanks and agree, and did that. The prop is based on standard and typical configuration. West by North is great to work with and while it is typical they have some instances where things did not work...

Cal 35 MkII Prop Size?

Anyone know what the original prop size should be for a 1983 Cal 35MkII with Universal 5432 and Hurth trans? I purchased a Campbell Sailor that is a 16/8 and it looks like it is to much prop. With...

Cal 35 MKII with Campbell Sailor

I own a 1983 Cal 35 MkII (new to me) and have been getting her into shape. Anyone have any experience with moving to a 3 blade prop? I had a 17-10 on my Cal and expect that was what it came with. I...

Re: Cal 35 Raw Water Intake Question

Thanks. I will take some pictures and post. It has to be a Y-strainer of some sort but looks like it was not part of anyone's maintenance schedule...hence my potential flow problem. Also, there is no...

Cal 35 Raw Water Intake Question

Anyone familiar with the raw water seacock on a 1983 Cal 35. The thru-hull goes to a valve and then there is a Y just before the barbed fitting for the hose that feeds the Raw Water pump. The Y looks...

Re: Universal 5432 Throttle Set Up

This thread interests me and agree that under the heat of tight space docking, power boat dodging, wind, etc. (at least at my marina yesterday) it would be nice to have a stop point at the lowest...

Re: Solved thermostat problem on Universal 5432

bwindrope: picked up on your old thread and thanks. Not sure if you are still out there but did you ever get a good answer as to why a 160F thermostat was used in the application for the 5432? The...

Extreme Exhaust Elbow Heat

I have a Universal (Kubota) 5432 that runs well and seems to operating well with one exception.

The issue: when under power at anything over 1700 rpm the exhaust elbow gets so hot it starts to...

Re: Exhaust Elbow

PAULCR1: Not sure what you ever did with your exhaust elbow but a recent issue with excessive heat on my elbow led to me unwrapping and seeing how it was put together. Very simple standard threaded...

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

Anyone replace the thermostat on Universal 5432. 160F seems to be the correct stat. Is this also Kubota logic for replacement or was something different done by Universal for marine application....

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

Does anyone happen to know the torque specs for the water pump mounting bolts for 5432 or now better know as the L345 Kubota? Thanks much.

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

Closing in on a water pump and have not decided yet whether to go OEM or not. The Kubota lasted 30 years and while I'm sure they "don't make em like they used to" it may be worth a few extra bucks....

So interestingly I just realized that we are not able to use the PM feature of the forum until at least 15 posts have occurred. Makes sense I guess to ensure system does not get bogged down with...

Re: Atomic Diesel 5432 Fresh Water Pump

Also, thank you all for this thread. Does anyone know (or PaulCR1 specifically since you made the change out) how you find the Kubota block number so I can cross reference for the correct fresh water...
