Not meaning for 'to the brim' to be taken literally, but I did top them off to make sure the batteries had plenty of water prior to shoving off.

That may be sponge indeed. The one to which I referred is available at West Marine apparently, but is likely the same thing just pricier since it's 'marine grade'

Great suggestion re: MEK. Will definitely check it out. The rub rail marks are from the edges and (mostly) corner of the slip, not sure if same material as cowl vents/vinyl etc but...

Whew! pretty awesome day yesterday on SF Bay - solid 25 knots gusting 35+. 'Favorable' conditions for getting to know our new-to-us Tartan 4100. Handled great, docking was slightly less great.

Thanks - boat is at a slip under shore power, so there shouldn't be any power issues. Figured there'd be no harm leaving it on, unless float switch got stuck somehow and burned out the pump....
