I've taken the handrails off of our Catalina 30 and it was pretty painless. I'd highly recommend Teakguard from Allguard Products. It's worked great for me and several friends.

I wouldn't dream of not having liability insurance. We had a fire at my marina, 26 doats were destroyed. Teams are still pulling boats off the bottom. I'd hate to be on the hook for that....

Why not go for a little longer ocean time and come in at Beaufort Inlet. It's normally MUCH more user friendly. It's a pretty cool little sailing town as well.

When you set the whisker pole make sure the jaws...

When you set the whisker pole make sure the jaws are facing up. That way gravity can help you when it's time to take it down. We always release from the mast first.
