+1 on never wrapping a furling line around a winch. I would not venture away from a dock with that broken strand. The swage may well be shot. Replace it with a piece of line for a while and send it...

the halyard deflector looks like early Facnor. it is on up side down probably because it is worn on the edge so they put it on up side down but now it will hold water. the new ones have holes to let...

Hi, the top cap is not installed upside down it could have been if the top /inside wasnt so long it would then fit down over the top of the furler profile. The furler looks like it might well be...

I think there are very few jobs that can be done while cruising if you wish to keep moving, ie actively cruising.

The IT idea sounds fine but I think there are very few in our size boats actively...
