Re: Need new quality Cruising Sails

I have one north laminate too. Would not buy another either. That was a norlam that bit the dust sooner than expected.....

My Ullman laminates on the other hand have close to 10 years useage, and...

Re: Need new quality Cruising Sails

If it were me, I'd skip the dacron and go with a laminate. I like the Ullman Tri-Axis laminate. It is a panel sewn cloth. BUT it has more power available than dacron, not as much stretch etc. Price...

Re: What type of Keel do you prefer....

hmmmm 25' to tack in.......

I'm usually 8-10', but like all things great and small "IT DEPENDS" upon where in the salish sea I am. Some places 25' is a good thing to tack, as a boat length later...

Re: 2016 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

I'm glad I am in the NW US. About 40-50 here in Seattle, 6-8' of snow in cascades, at least THIS year, unlike last year. Can sail one day, ski the next. Or sail in the day, an hour later night...

Re: New Rig Tension tool

Hopefully like the Loos guages, spinlock will make bigger versions. Then again, maybe there is more of the smaller versions sold than the PT 2 or 3 versions.

THen as far as too tight vs loose....

Re: How big is your spinnaker pole? (Thats what she said, honestly!!)

Since someone mentioned poling Jibs, I've personally found that 80% of footlength, which is max per my local race rules for a whisker pole, seems to be about right. While I can use a pole equal to...

This sounds like the answers in a ski instructor clinic I was doing a week or so ago. Answer was almost ALWAYS "it depends". WE were not discussing the diaper versions, but here and there, one could...

Re: What sail material are racer/cruisers recommending these days?

Glad someone got some good use of a norlam/dacron mylar mix sail cloth. Most I know are a bit disappointed in the cost longevity ratio standpoint. I do note the pentax or other cloths like the tri...

Re: What sail material are racer/cruisers recommending these days?

Joy,

To add one in here. You might find a really light drifter is nice for the days that the winds are under 5-7 knots. They can be made of 3oz nylon, and are cheap $$ wise.

Ballard do seem to...

Re: Jenneau Sun 2500

To my knowledge, there is only one sun2500 in the US. You should be able to search on this forum, and at jeanneau.proboards.com for comments from that owner.

I personally would take the jeanneau...

Re: Looking at a Catalina 28-2, 1997

Um, not sure I would agree with the same asking dollars tween US and Canada. There is a Jeanneau SF37 in Vancouver. $ca is 150K, a bit less than 120K US$ with current exchange rate.

BUT, $44K for...

Re: 469 versus 479

In a very simple nutshell, not much. ALL of the boat that have another foot added, get the foot from the bow sprit that was introduced on the 349. Along with some of the models get a new back end, ie...

Re: Looking at a Catalina 28-2, 1997

Having raced against a few with my 28'lod Jeanneau, I personally would say the SJ28 is the fastest of the bunch. The rangers while familiar, I have not raced against as many of them. The C28II has...

Re: New suit of sails for PSC34
