Re: Accessing Chainplates
I consulted with my business partner and he confirms that the chainplates are behind the wood panels. It should be fairly simple to get at them.
Don't be afraid to dig into this sort of stuff on...

Re: Fair Winds
What? Did you throw in your computer with the boat?
You're still a sailor and still part of this motley crew. Hope you stick around.
Sorry about you having to sell your boat. I hope I'm not...

Re: Shower Sump Won't Pump
This is something you can definitely check out yourself. I bet the problem will be very obvious once you take up the cover.

Re: Accessing Chainplates
I can't remember off the top of my head how they did the chainplates in your boat. I know I've seen them, but I'm drawing a blank. Sorry.
If you don't get some feedback by tomorrow, I'll check the...

Re: Let's talk titanium
The only thing I really know personally about titanium is learned from those blue screws that ProFurl uses.
I have had to drill out many of them.
But I never blame the material for a lack of...

Re: dnf because of county police boat?
Aren't the local authorities notified of scheduled races. Even if they wern't, it's usually pretty obvious when a race is in progress. What was the police boat doing sitting in the middle of a race?...

Re: Bent Vang-how does this happen?
Well, it sounds like the vang line or the main sheet was on the electric winch and someone who had one too many had their finger on the button.
You did say the dodger was damaged too right? The...

Re: My Horror Story
Our 25 year old brought us from northern California to Florida. It's since been replaced for a physically smaller 10 horse but was still running fine when it was sold.

Re: Bent Vang-how does this happen?
If this surprises you, then I have to assume that you haven't been in the business long. :laugher
You wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen on returned charter boats.
Main furler....

Re: Bent Vang-how does this happen?
I need more information.
It would help if you told us which shackle needed to be wire tied. And do you mean plastic zip ties?
It seems like charter companies use those a lot. Guess they never...

Re: dnf because of county police boat?
I would be interested in hearing the facts about this. Never heard of a sailboat being cited for excessive/improper speed. There must be something else going on.

Re: Chain Plate Replacement
I just finished drilling the holes in my new chainplates. I went with aluminum bronze. The alloy is called C61400. I purchased it from Atlas Bronze.
After talking to Tom Smith, who is the owner I...

But then I'd have to learn to cook. :p
Actually, I have read where the pulp is used in baking. Muffins or something.
Mrs KH has recently been baking bread every week. Maybe I can get her...

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2
Just a quick question. What happens when somebody says something "off topic" in the chat room?
Are there pitch forks and torches involved? :D

Re: Juicer
I still have my Jack Lalanne juicer but haven't used it in a couple of years. It works fine but wastes water to clean and I never found a good use of the pulp except for composting. (I hate waste)...
