Re: Engine diagnosis Yanmar 7.5 hp...

Actually my motor is the older 1GM which has a max HP of 7.5 but more realistically 6hp based on my manual. I agree that this is a little low on the power but I am hoping to make at least hull speed...

Re: Modifying Fuel Water Separator...

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will remove the vinyl and needle valve from the system and just find a wing nut plug to screw into the 1/8" NPT opening. The original drain was a hex head plug...

Re: Advice on mooring setup...

The stern line keeps the boat from swinging out of the proper angle for the anchor. I will give enough slack to let it rotate 10 degrees or so but then stop. This will keep the force on the anchor...

Advice on mooring setup...

My dock is not deep enough to handle the 5' draft of my boat without hitting bottom at low tide with waves. The bottom is a very gradual slope so i will need to go off the dock about 50' to get to...

Re: What is this part on Yanmar 1GM?

I actually stole the original picture from that Mark Corke Link above ;) I guess the part is nothing more than a thread adapter. I guess it confers from 1/2" threads on the engine block to flare...

Re: Engine diagnosis Yanmar 7.5 hp...

Okay I got a little work done today but I didn't get to really test out the motor.

I did the Muratic acid flush and let it soak in the motor for 20 minutes. Then flushed it out with fresh water...

Re: Engine diagnosis Yanmar 7.5 hp...

All good ideas Christian.

The prop shaft is easy to turn by hand when in neutral so it should't be the stuffing.

One thing that bothers me about the prop being the issue is that the motor...

Re: Engine diagnosis Yanmar 7.5 hp...

I will be sure to read that article, but being in Florida the average summer temps are 95 F for roughly 4 months out of the year so I am sure the lifespan is far less than 5 years. Also our relative...
