Re: Heading for the Annapolis boat show tomorrow

I'm docked across from Boatyard so if folks are interested in organizing a get-together for sundowners Friday/Saturday/Sunday just pipe up. My marina has some picnic tables for slipholders and could...

Re: im sure the odds of finding a women to date on here is, 1 ina mill

Good eyes spotting that! I knew I'd just be motoring that day so I said "what the hell" and left the cypress Adirondack chair on the bow. I bet I got a lot of looks and laughs on the bay that day! I...

Re: im sure the odds of finding a women to date on here is, 1 ina mill

Have to respect that the OP did pony up photos when Zee called folks out to do it. But pix of my Perkins 4-108 for serious inquiries only. ;)

I don't know how often these forums lead to romance,...

Male crew wanted: Must be buff!

I just don't see why it has to be a joke. Everyone loves youth and beauty. Yes, I think the 65+ guys with beer guts who think they are a gift to a 20-something (or even a 40-something) are delusional...

Re: Dogs?

I live aboard with a Yellow Lab (10% dog, 90% fish) and two cats. They seem happier living aboard our 37-footer than they ever were in big houses or with big yards. They haven't been out under sail,...

Re: Good Deck Shoes?

I prefer to be barefoot, weather permitting and despite being a bit of a klutz, as a general philosophy, to show off my toenail polish, and because I think bare feet are "grippier" and give one more...

There are mooring balls in Annapolis. I think you contact the city harbormaster to rent one. There are annual ones and transient ones.

Re: Problem/Issues experienced with backpacks and duffle bags carried along

First, bad design: I find traditional school-type backpacks very un-useable. They are really just shaped to carry books, will never sit on the base without falling over, and the zip down design...

Re: The Galley - Must Haves, Don't Needs & Wish List

Yes, I am looking for one of those! Used to have to make whipped cream with one at my grandmother's cabin. I figure nowadays I will have to go to an antique or "junk" shop to even find one....

Re: The Galley - Must Haves, Don't Needs & Wish List

Love having my tea kettle to heat water for coffee and tea and getting much use from my pressure cooker. I bought a French Press and find that it is not worth the hassle to clean the grinds out...a...

wind_magic: That's exactly why there are lots of new babies 9 months after hurricanes and big winter storms! But would people really rather watch TV? Not me! If so, I'm definitely with the wrong guy....

Re: Seeking Blogs from Singlehanders

Thanks, I will check out his blog!

And it's OK if it's not all touchy-feely, I understand a lot of guys won't be blogging that way. But they may have reasons for going it alone they are willing...

Seeking Blogs from Singlehanders

I'm collecting blog posts on how/why singlehanders go it alone. What does it mean for them regarding relationships, friendships, and family? Was it a choice or did the other half back out? Would you...

Re: Living aboard - and sex

Well now that I know it's actually a matter of boating safety to test out the anchor in this way, I'll have to make a priority of finding a floppy-haired sailor to assist me with this critical task....

Re: sailing a spiritual experience

I certainly expect it would be spiritual to many, both in times of perfect weather and in the middle of nature's fury. Perhaps it is the sense of harnessing the immense power of the wind and sea, but...

Re: Issues with Heating in Annapolis, MD

Question: What amperage are you drawing from the two oil-filled heaters? I'm running one, and then feel I'm pushing it to add a heating pad in the V-berth, but that is making it tolerable up there....

Re: Living aboard - and sex

It's a breath of fresh air that no one has tried to ruin this thread with anything about the practice of sailing, other than to note that autopilot comes in very handy at certain times! Gratefully,...

Re: Living aboard - and sex

My hair repeatedly got caught in Velcro intended for securing cushions to the settee... but I was into the guy, so I rolled with it. The flexibility from a regular yoga practice definitely pays off.

I am relatively new to this forum. Overall, I don't think this forum is unfriendly.

A common problem with internet forums and email is the inability of readers to sense lighthearted jest rather...
