Re: AIS-B Installation and range

Oh wow...

Since you have the opportunity to buy what you want. I wholeheartedly...

Re: replacing speed/depth display

You would need to determine what transducers you have, then call B&G and ask them what display is compatible. I'm willing to bet you get the same answer from B&G as I gave you. Or you will need to...

Re: Questions for Patreon Users

Youtube has very very strict rules about using music with rights. Even if that music is playing on a radio in the background. Many vloggers have to ditch good video cause a tune can be heard in the...

Re: AIS-B Installation and range

I'm pretty particular about the cable I used on my boat. I just pulled out all the cable and replaced with LMR400. That cable was $100 alone.

Of course that was just me!

Re: AIS-B Installation and range

Really.. After the cost of a quality antenna and running the wire (even yourself) I think the cost is pretty close even with a high quality splitter (Vesper is $229). If you have to pay for labour,...

Re: AIS-B Installation and range

Yup.. Guessing one of the connectors has issues..

There is nothing wrong with AIS sharing the VHF antenna as long as you have a quality splitter. Frankly, you will get less range installing a...

Re: Don't buy a windlass from these people

Take a look at my location and you will have the answer to that question. Pretty sure Quick doesn't have an office in Edmonton, AB Canada.

As I stated before, they are under no "obligation" to...

Re: $13 LED Dome lights, RV / MARINE - what do you think?

I changed all my fixtures to RV fixtures ordered from e-bay. Yes I stopped by the local RV store and the prices were not even close (like 4X more).

Although the fixture is a standard RV one, I...

I'm running 3 of these and have been happy so far. I actually posted a tear down video on another forum. They are using quality parts and a quality design.

Re: Don't buy a windlass from these people

I own an import company and deal with the customs people on a weekly basis. Its not anywhere near as time consuming as you are making out (cause I'm pretty sure you haven't even tried).

Quick had...

Re: Don't buy a windlass from these people

Nope.. When I import something into my own country I know its my responsibility to deal with customs. Its a risk we take when we buy items out of country.

I think its completely rediculous for...

Re: Don't buy a windlass from these people

Actually.. Thats not true.. You can contact Canada Customs and if you can prove it was a warranty or mishipment, they will refund it. Its actually pretty easy to do!

While I agree they should have...

Re: Computer Upgrade

I missed this sorry..

My personal opinion is Windows 10 is lightyears ahead of Windows 8.1. As seems to be the Microsoft way, every second OS sucks (Vista, 8/8.1).

If I compare Windows 10 to...

Re: A big Oyster abandoned off Spain

Wow... What a class act by the company.

Seriously, how they are handling this should be an example for other boat companies. Definitely moved them up a notch in my books.

Re: Start electrics problem

Follow Mainsails advice..

My gut instinct would be to check the grounding between the starter and engine. Then the grounding of both battery banks (possibly the house battery bank has a better...

Re: NMEA wifi solutions??

I have a Vesper WatchMate Vision. It provides AIS and WIFI bridging of both NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183. I can see all my data on a laptop, or tablet (Android or IDevice).
