Re: More Ventilation in Aft Cabin --Center Cockpit with Dodger

Standing at the bottom of the companionway there is definitely air flowing in whether the cabintop port lights are open or not.

I suspect that the aft opening overhead hatches are a factor. YMMV.

Re: Florida is at it again

Really? Even in a tourist economy like Florida? So we should just mail our money in and stay home?

Darn tootin'. As it happens I'm presenting a webinar entitled "Offshore to the Bahamas" for...

Re: More Ventilation in Aft Cabin --Center Cockpit with Dodger

I have a different experience.

40' center cockpit boat, three hatches forward of the cockpit (front to rear, one forward opening and two aft opening), a substantial dodger, and an aft opening...

Re: Florida is at it again

The Florida state Senate bill continues through a string of committees unchanged - it continues to include the 200' setback.

The effort to amend the Florida state House bill to include the 200'...

Re: 12V outlet blows USB plugin

Thats good. Your OP said one was wired from the other. Enjoy.[/QUOTE]

Daisy chain devices are wired in parallel -- one to the other instead of home runs from the breaker to each device. It's...

Re: Florida is at it again

Actually not the case. The Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) (http://ssca.org) is leading the charge with support from BoatUS, AGLCA, and some from NMMA. BoatUS has been a lot quieter this year...

Re: SAIL Snowbird Rally 2015- Now less for more

I think it is cynical. Disclaimer: Wally Moran is a friend of mine; Mark and Diana Doyle are also friends of mine. I've been invited to speak at the Sail seminars in Hampton. I spoke at the Annapolis...

Re: Legal distance for towing another boat?

IMO | Member States (http://www.imo.org/About/Membership/Pages/MemberStates.aspx)

Unlike most political issues, IMO and ITU agreements actually demonstrate tremendous agreement across the planet.

See Welcome to the Seven Seas Cruising Association (http://ssca.org) for the latest information. If you care about anchoring rights in Florida or anywhere else consider joining SSCA.

Re: SCS PTC-IIex Modem Problem

Is the Bluetooth connection between the laptop and the modem or between the...

Re: Legal distance for towing another boat?

I don't think there is a law per se. There are lights you should show for short and long tows. For support boats (including dinghies) people don't generally show them. You pretty much want the towed...

The public hearing did not go well. Reports from SSCA volunteer lobbyists are that meetings with staff and members went much better. A statement will be posted on the SSCA website this evening and...

This post is a disservice to people that don't understand the disorganized rudeness and cruelty of April Fools. Bad taste and just plain mean.

Re: Thought there was something strange..

Agreed. The only bridge I don't look up at is the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. At 228' I'm pretty sure I won't hit it. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge at 186' is close enough that I keep an eye on it.

Re: Single handed docking...

I'm not a fan of bow thrusters. In the wind and current conditions in which they work you don't really need them. By the time you need them they aren't powerful enough AND you won't have had the...

Re: Need list things to have on boat.

There is a big difference between an open ended "tell me what to do/buy" and a more reasonable statement of what research you have done, your current thoughts, and a request for comment.
