Re: Auto vs manual inflate lifejackets

We have all heard some idiot tell the story that goes something like this: "If I hadn't been so drunk, I would have been much more severely injured". Or, idiot 2 who tells the story that ends with:...

Re: Repainting non skid only

Kiwi grip. Easy Peasy. Water cleanup. No VOC's. Trowel it on and finish with the "loopy goopy" roller. Wait an hour or so pull up the tape and let it cure. My 12 year old did a great job...

Re: VHF with AIS/GPS

I have the Standard Horizon Matrix unit connected to a Garmin 541s chart plotter. Works like a champ. Installed in summer, 2010 and going strong. Mine is a NMEA 0186 connection. It was no problem...

A dremel with a drum sanding bit will work fine. Installing a deck plate in a bare hole, however, may not be the look you want. Consider buying a deck plate size you want with a ring. WEST MARINE...

Re: rigger near Bremerton or Port Orchard

Lower shroud would be easy to replace. Take your old one to West Marine in Bremerton. they will make a new one. You can install it with the help of a friend. Basic rig tuning is also not all that...

Re: jib track bolts, big phillips?

The common Phillips size range is #00 (smallest) - #3 largest. they may go larger. I don't know. Not sure about your track screws but mine are #3 Phillips. It is important that you use the right...

Re: Indy Canvas Charleston, SC Unprofessional Unresponsive

Agree with everything Paul. It's an issue of time. That and my sewing machine is not up to the task. A sewing class and a heavy duty machine are on the wish list.

Re: Getting a group together for discount captains license course

Outbound-

As far as learning something; if your hours have mostly been on an Outbound 46 including offshore time, I doubt you will learn anything new that is useful. The only things that were new...

Re: Indy Canvas Charleston, SC Unprofessional Unresponsive

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, both Carol Hasse and Schattauer have great sail making reputations. If I'm in the position to own a worthy boat that needs sails and justifies their premium...

Re: Getting a group together for discount captains license course

I went through Mariners Learning System. It's on-line. The study materials work fine. The nice thing about this course is that it is very affordable and you do not have to take the Coast Guard...

Exclamation Indy Canvas Charleston, SC Unprofessional Unresponsive

To my 10 (or more) friends:

I just paid my local canvas shop $2,000 for a new dodger. It seemed ok to save a couple hundred on my sail cover and some smaller items by ordering on-line.

I...

Interesting thread. I have the Garmin 541s which is not a touch screen. Because I use an iPhone and iPad daily, I am always tapping the screen of my chart plotter. A couple of things to consider. ...

Re: keel vs deck stepped

To the op:

You mention that the CS30 has a baby stay. I have a 1988 C&C 30 which shares some design characteristics. I have to say that the baby stay is a major pain in the ass. It takes up...
