Re: Recent charter in BVIs

Very nice! The water down there is the 'bluest blue' there is - I'll join the jealous crowd (and start saving those nickels and dimes for our next journey south!).

Thanks for bringing me back -...

Re: Living aboard - and sex

This is a great (and timeless) thread. As Smack has pointed out, it's surely to be considered a Sailnet classic for years to come.

In my view, though, I think the topic could also be considered...

Hello all,

I'm thinking about changing my electrical system to remove the battery isolating diodes (and their voltage drop) and use a 'voltage sensing relay' to charge both batteries instead.

Re: CT Shore Marinas

I think Midway is pretty far up the river to consider for a sailboat over the summer, you'd spend most of your weekends going up and down the Connecticut River. Midway's a great place to winter-over...

Hi Tempest,

You've hit the nail right on the head - the service business is about service, but it has to be reasonable and sustainable. Having some sensitivity to that reality (and as related by...

Tempest,

Although I think you are technically correct, Champlin's view regarding 'theft of services' seems to have changed a bit after their proposal for expansion was denied after a lengthy and...

Hi Brad,

You raise a great point, and when comparing the $$ spent on the fuel dock between a powerboat and a sailboat, clearly there is more profit potential on the powerboat side when considering...

Hi Jim,

We were probably in the pond during the same period last summer - we were also out there in mid-August for a couple of days and as you said, it was very crowded.

It seems that the...

Stonington is a nice stop for those transiting east out of Fishers Sound. There is a small anchorage on the west side of the channel inside the inner breakwater. A nice dinghy dock is available just...

Hi Rob,

Although it sounds like we had a little better luck 'sneaking' showers (my wife and I took turns while at the bar, and the bartender didn't seem to mind) - we had a similar negative...
