It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

Replacement sails - Hood''''s Vektran
The 1st part of your initial post also inquired about Hood Vektran sails, but I saw no other responses to that question. I bought a Vektran genoa for my previous boat and was very happy with it. ...

My first hand impression of Elan is that they are a modern, first rate boat builder, producing an above average product of exceptional value. They are a division of the same company that produces...

How heavy is too heavy II ?
A descriptive form of shorthand that often helps is to apply automotive analogies to boat preferences. Vehicle identities are so well understood, in American culture at least, that it can facilitate...

How heavy is too heavy II ?
The old thread you seek was under Gear and Maintenance, for whatever reason.
I, too, enjoy such debates, but the dispersion of issues here has become tiring. A more targeted analysis is far...

high quality yacht brands?
Paulo- If you believe “that a sailboat, except if it is a pure racer, is not only designed to sail, but also to live aboard. The quality and comfort of that life aboard and the autonomy of the boat...

How Heavy Is Too Heavy
My only question is this; would those of you with a 24000# boat, or those with 46000# even, expect a 48’ boat, or even 60’ boat of the same displacement, which certainly do exist, to behave less...

I have perceived that individual priorities are the key ingredient precipitating the wide variance of opinions about what defines a quality yacht. Some focus on tradition and are attracted to older...

J-40 for Long Distance Cruising ?
I just have to remark, this dialogue is fascinating! Keep it coming. It centers on the issues I have questioned most. It''s only the eighth round and countervailing positions have been established....

OK, how about the Nordic 40 ??
See now the Nordic 40 is also attractive to me and presents an interesting point of comparison with the J-40. Though the same length overall, the N-40 is slightly heavier (18,000 vs. 17,300...

Frers 41 vs Sun Legend
Speaking of late 80’s sailboat designs around 40’ overall that perform well yet are adaptable for offshore cruising purposes and “robust”, as some like to say, enough to withstand heavy abuse; may I...

J-40 for Long Distance Cruising ?
The J-40 is a cruising option that has appealed to me as well. Jeff and Jack have both touched upon the subject of boat selection criteria, which is a multi-faceted equation that must be understood...
