Daytime anchor ball

IFWIW the OP profile says he sails a vessel under 40 ft in inland waters, hence my post.

Re: Daytime anchor ball

A vessel under 12 meters is not required to display the "motor sail marker". I have yet to see anyone use one that is not required.

Heck, I don't recall seeing the black ball being displayed by...

Looks good. Keep us posted.

Re: Tiller or Wheel for Solo?

Does not matter. A good autopilot will make all the difference in the world. Tiller pilots are much easier to install and much less expensive.

I like having a wheel but one gets much more...

Re: How big is too big for one man?

Purchase an sail the boat that suits you now. Sail, sail, sail. Grow with it.
By doing just that I learned that my sailing desires evolved as I grew. No one can tell you were it will take you.

Re: violent rig vibration when sitting in the slip

Re: Surveyor in RI?

I would second Johnson Marine in Mystic. They go above and beyond.

Ken Johnson even helped/taught me how to winterize systems when I combined a fall haul out with a pre-purchase survey.

Re: Fish club, or sex toy?

What amazes me is that you are worried about cleaning it up to muddle fruit but no mention of cleaning it up before the sex toy act? :D

Shore power and lights

LED 12volt.

I'm considering adding one 12v fluorescent fixture over the galley as I like lots of light when I'm cooking.

I like Chief. I also like Allison. I happen to like one word names so I did not reply to the poll.

If it was me, I might go with Chief and perhaps have a graphic added, something firefighting...

Re: Good morning! Game change plan.....

If the KY winter allows you to leave the boat in the water, I would do just that to sell her. There is a reasonable possibility that the buyer may not even survey. I don't know what the market is...

I just got out of my last relationship, mainly, it ended because of the CLOCK (no, it's not a silent L).

Summer time better spent on sailing and weekend cruises.

Re: Best 30' Cruiser

The C&C 30MKI is a good compromise, fast for it's vintage, very easy to sail in a variety of conditions, very stiff. A fun boat.
No quarter berth = huge storage lazarettes.
Large V-berth.

Re: Violent attack, Cruisers injured, St Vincent & Grenadines, Union Island

I kneel to no one. You mistake my solace for complacency. Let your God forbid you corner me. I'll gnaw through your flesh. Now get over it.

Re: Time for a new dinghy - roll up vs. air vs. rigid floor

I have had a Mercury Air Deck (inflatable floor). 10 Years old and the Hypalon has held up well. Too bad the inflatable floor is mad of PVC .

It does well with a 5 hp, planes nicely. Rowing is...

Re: Whales don't like Red ?

I would have to say that if anything, white bottom paint would look more like the underbelly of a shark or a killer whale. And I'm not really convinced on that.

Re: Replacing a tired Atomic 4 Gas Engine

Having lived with an A4 for 10+ yrs, and done my share of business with the Moyers, I would replace it with a rebuilt from Moyer.

Properly taken care of, an A4 is a very reliable little beast. My...
