Re: Recourse for Powerboats

Maybe you need to come up to speed there, old timer. The ICW is no longer a commercial waterway as such. Sure commercial traffic still uses it, but the the Army Corp of Engineers doesn't maintain it...

Re: Recourse for Powerboats

Being as I have sailboat, and most here do as well, these new 'no wake zones' effect me how? And correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the NEW 'no wake zones' imposed to slow idiots that go to fast in...

SUPER SOAKER WATER GUN or WATER BALLOONS

Fire off a few rounds or launch a couple balloons just before they pass so they can see what's in store. Preferably requesting a slow pass on channel 16 at...

Guess I need to reemphasize the 'cheap' part of my request.

Re: Gangplank Ideas?

Hey sorry the 'plans' comment. It was really about trying to figure out what the least of mount of structure would need to be built to hold a specified weight. You are right, the building it was...

Gangplank Ideas?

I just built a gangplank that turned out to be too heavy. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas to make a cheap gangplank. I know I could probably use a 2x16 board, but I was trying for a...

Re: Drinking water tank water.

I'm guessing that things like BPA in plastic and Fluoride in municipal water systems, are not big problems to anyone?

Re: Drinking water tank water.

I do believe my water tanks are clean enough to drink from, even after being over 30 years old, but because I don't do it, it leaves me to neglect 'purifying' them every time, and just fill them for...

Drinking water tank water.

My boat carries 2 water tanks, 50 and 30. The water in them is regularly used. I average going through one tank a month and so the water is constantly being replaced. But, we never drink it or cook...

Re: Painting Question, if I may?

In case anyone is interested, you can buff/wax 3 year old alkyd enamel paint.

I first wet sanded with 600 grit and then high speed buffed with 3M Restorer and Wax Step 1. I probably could have...

Re: Painting Question, if I may?

Hey, you got me wondering, so I went and looked at the back of my boat. Yep, it's "Pyewackette". :)

Re: Prop size for 4-107

Here is what I plan to do; the bottom paint I use works really well, except for the prop and shaft. I assume it is because I don't change the zincs soon enough, the bottom paint wears off quicker on...

Re: Prop size for 4-107

Interesting new development since the subject of resizing a prop came up. When I originally looked at the prop it had 16x16 stamped on the outer hub, but the inner hub had a 16x16 stamped but the...

Re: Prop size for 4-107

Gotcha, thanks for the info I will see what I can do to find a prop matching what you say.

Also, the ratio is 2:51 to 1.

Re: Prop size for 4-107

I have checked the rpm's with a digital tach, it it appears fine. However, I do have a problem when my batteries are full, the alternator doesn't put out so my tack reading is off until I turn on a...

Re: Prop size for 4-107

Yes, the smoke is black.

My 16x16 is a three blade prop. I like it but I do have an issue with prop walk in reverse that really makes the boat uncontrollable. Wonder if a two blade prop would...

Re: Prop size for 4-107

When I try and push the engine above 1800, it starts to smoke a little and then the temperature starts to climb. Not necessarily to overheat, just higher. I usually will do that only if I need to get...

Prop size for 4-107

Anybody have any idea what prop size would be correct for a Perkins 4-107 in a 41' Gulfstar. From what I can tell the 4-107 should have an rpm of 3000, but I can only get 1800. I have a 16x16 prop...

Re: How many insure their boat with only liability insurance?

I guess another consideration is the length of the vessel.

It seems it is easier for vessels that are 35' or less to get reasonable insurance, where as vessels over that size, and older than 20...
