Re: On the market for a new boat - please help

Re: Reverse Polarity

I've wondered about this. How do you check this function? Mine has never shown a reverse polarity, but who knows what that shows?

Re: Problem Turning Windward

Re lazy jacks. After I have lowered and secured my mainsail, I stow the lazy jacks, that way they do not interfere with raising and adjusting the shape of the main.
I believe you have a Cruising...

Re: whats up with no introductions

You know, I don't chafe at no introduction so much as I do that we so often get very specific questions yet the poster provides no meaningful information in the their profile.

Re: Annoying Halyard Slap

Re: Interior Carpeting

I think you will have to do a lot of fairing before gel coating to get what you envision - a nice smooth, easy to clean surface. The rough side of fiberglass moldings can be very rough indeed. If I...

Re: Spade Rudders vs. Skeg Hung

Omatako,
Have you ever seen a skeg hung front fork on a bicycle?
It's all about design, engineering and manufacture. When done correctly either design works. And remember you can break anything,...

Re: Collision course procedure?

I think you have to assume that a boat on a beeline is on autopilot and the operator is doing other things. If you are on a collision course then use your horn before you become uncomfortable with...

Re: 1989 Hunter 40 - A million questions.

Smack,
I'm surprised the antenna shroud has a terminal strip in it and not a connector that was prewired to the internals. A terminal strip seems to add to the potential for connection difficulties....

Re: 1989 Hunter 40 - A million questions.

If the cable that comes out the top of the mast is different than the cable that comes out the bottom in the bilge, then bite the bullet and replace. Judging from you photos one cannot have any...

James,
It's not new vs used, it's condition, design and fit.

Re: 1989 Hunter 40 - A million questions.

Oh me,
How do you spell microwave? Think microwave oven and don't do that trick again!
Before you start continuity testing try to find out if there is one continuous cable inside the mast, deck...

RunningRabbit,
With a deck chair like that, I would think you would be overwhelmed with offers from foredeckmen.
Love it.

Re: New main sail

Barquito,
How old are your sails, or how much have they been used? I replaced my old sails about three years ago and had the same experience as the OP. I went with the loose footed/2 full battens...

Re: Shatterproof glass on hatch?

If you want to go with glass look for impact resistant glass used in domestic windows. While the glass will break given a strong enough force (the test is a 2 X 4 shot out of a cannon at 60 mph) the...

re: Can I get rid of the Bow pulpit?
