Re: MD7 Diesel in motor oil ?? maybe MD 7

Check the diaphragm on the engine-mounted lift pump. It may be leaking. That's all I can think of.

I don't think that leaking past the rings would do it. they would have to be leaking like crazy...

Re: Re power choices for Sweden 36

Do not touch another Volvo. Later you will get savaged for spare part prices.
I would go for one of the top-flight Japanese motors.
They will probably rev higher, so you need to be ready for the...

Re: de-humidifier recommendation?

Thanks for all your help.
I just want a wee model that kills the worst of the moisture.
It is not too damp in Invernesshire, but it will still help.
The West of Scotland is far worse.

de-humidifier recommendation?

I wanted to fit a wee dehumidifier now that I have shore power.
I wanted to fit it over the sink so that it would drain away without having to be emptied regularly.
Is there a model you...

Re: I Paid a Dude. And I Liked It.

I pay for the teak cosmetic work.
The rest I try to do myself.
In a way I know it is done to some reasonable(?) minimum standard when I do it myself, and it is certainly cheaper.

Re: Prop walk on a Crealock 37

Diana :

Same problem on my Polaris 36.
Really, they do not respond to the helm when going astern until you have built up so much speed that it can get more than a bit frightening.
Also, when...

Re: Removing KM2P from 2GM20F

On the Volvo MD 17C it is not difficult. If it has not been removed for a long time it can need a bit of a thump with a mallet. Four bolts hold the Volvo 'box on, if I remember. It went on again...

Re: Volvo Penta 2002 Fresh Water Cooling System

In a closed FW cooled motor, the anti-freeze never gets to the exhaust, unless there is a leak.

Re: Removing KM2P from 2GM20F

It would be one heck of a design failing if you had to pull an engine out to get a gearbox off the motor.

It should not be necessary to take the shaft coupling off either. They really can be rock...

Re: Raw water pump...what's normal?

When you on a tack and the boat is leaned over hard, the water may drain out of the engine cooling intake. It takes longer and needs higher revs to re-establish the flow.

Re: How to jack up diesel to replace motor mount?

You will have to free both rear mounts. The wee nuts are likely to be rusted in there and may be reluctant to move. A big chunk of 4"x4" (or similar) could be wedged in there to lift the motor at the...

Re: Mono hull to Cat

Multi-hulls don't roll much, but man, they certainly can pitch.
They are certainly fast.
They are not for me, though.

The relationship with Volvo is likely to be strained, at best.

Re: Albin Vega Deck Gasket - Mast Reinforcement

My friend, be very careful about even the thought of taking the deck off. The moment you do, the hull and will distort, and you may find that they do not want to go back together again.

Re: 1gm10 yanmar is stuck

For a compression check, you have to take out the injector and put a pressure gauge in the same place, then crank the engine.

If you have started in reverse, you noticed exhaust gases...

Re: Fresh Water System Leak - Universal M2-12

I guess it does not have to be the...
