Re: What year does Beneteau start using a bridge?

I ordered mine last year after seeing hull number one on the hard. Quite nervous until I saw a very positive review in Practical Sailor. This is my first boat without a traveler. Don't miss it.

Re: Singlehanding a 41' Hunter DS?

Well, I have one. In fact, sitting in the cockpit now. Spent the day sailing. Nope, doesn't pound. Wife was at the helm, 50 degrees off the wind, 16 knots true. She took her hands off the helm,...

Re: Singlehanding a 41' Hunter DS?

The overwhelming majority of guys actually leaving the dock and sailing most weekends at my marina are folks on newer coastal cruisers, with comfy spacious berths, often with bow thrusters, in-mast...

Re: Singlehanding a 41' Hunter DS?

I agree.

First boat was a 38, second a 47, third a 41. All new.

The selling yard will give you an orientation. Hire a delivery Captain to help/ teach you on the trip to your marina,

Re: Oceanis 45 saildrive questions

I have a Oceanis 41 with the sail drive and a factory installed 3 blade folding prop. No noise at all.

Fwiw, boat's nicely fast under sail and no prop walk around the dock.

Re: Ready To Go Back In?

Spent yesterday doing the 8 yards of topsoil and mulch, so we went to the slip today, since they put the boat in Friday.

Genoa on, bimini up, springlines added, bikes in the shed, heater on,...

Re: Ready To Go Back In?

Mine's supposed to go in Friday. I leave for CA for 12 days Monday, so if its not dreadful, we hope to be sailing this weekend. I sure hope so, or I'll be at home wheelbarrowing & spreading 8 yards...

Re: Ready To Go Back In?

My bride of 30 years is a big part of our boat pep. We finished getting Sagacity's 41' ready for launch today. Everything got done in two days. She buffed some of the wax, put 3 coats of sealer on...

Re: Ready To Go Back In?

Shrink-wrap off, boat washed, bottom sanded, taped, cockpit teak sealed, bottom first coat painted, batteries installed, some waxing done.

Not bad for day one.

Back at it for the rest of the...

Re: Catalina 42 ... Why not?

Ok, I'm just a weekend & vacation sailor, but that's every weekend from the beginning of April till the end of November. I've had three boats with in mast furling and that's part of the reason I'm...

Re: Physical Fitness

The main thing is to not be overweight. Makes it much easier to move around the boat efficiently and quickly. I'm 6'3" and when I touch 230lbs, life sucks and the body has aches and pains.

When...

Re: 2013 5th Annual Sailnet Chesapeake Rondevous- June 8, 2013

Hi Dave,

This is our second time living in NJ. We were in the North for 10 years and this time we're trying the south, in a town called Mullica Hill. We like it a lot.

Our house is about an...

Re: 2013 5th Annual Sailnet Chesapeake Rondevous- June 8, 2013

My wife Lynn and I moved recently to NJ and started sailing on the Chesapeake last summer, out of Rock Hall. We'd love to join the group for the rendezvous June 8th.

We'd like a slip for our...

Re: in mast furling issues?

I've had three boats with in-mast furling since 2001. Vertical battens in this one.

Obviously I'm a fan.

Keep the sail taut, and don't let it flap wildly when furling.

With the big genoa's...

I have a 2012 Beneteau 41.

Re: Need new boat to accomodate old(er) body

It doesn't meet your desire for classic appearance but I'd suggest you consider a newly released Beneteau. Specifically the Oceanis 41, 45 or Sense 43.

Very short or shallow companionway and easy...
