Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

Just as long as you keep your hands off the build Bob. You don't want to take that point away from BS in these debates.

Re: Waterway Guide Beats Active Captain

To understand the impact and scope of how personal data fits into the long-term plans of these types of applications, you need to look at their long-term vision. The following is from a newsletter on...

Re: Waterway Guide Beats Active Captain

Again, there's a history that you can find pretty easily if you bother to look. That's all I'll say.

In any case, I'd much rather keep things focused on the applications themselves and the overall...

Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

Yeah - it gets into all that STIX/No-STIX stuff and is WAY above my head. I leave that kind of thing to the Maestros.

Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

I have the utmost respect for Ralph. And I just read his article and saw the ORR rule for the 115 degree stability index. I'll have to look around for stability curves of today's production boats...

Re: Waterway Guide Beats Active Captain

Not really. It's actually a fundamental part of the business models of each. So you really can't, or shouldn't, separate them.

I suppose you could do that to some degree. Any bogus info for...

Re: Waterway Guide Beats Active Captain

In these kinds of "free" digital-membership-based transactions, it all boils down to 2 things:

1. How highly you value your personal information.
2. How trustworthy and reliable the holder of...

Re: Why Going Aloft On A Shackle Is A Bad Idea

Respect.

Since our accident and my arm injury, I've only gotten back up to 5.10. My 5.13 days are definitely over. But I think, with time, I can get back to 5.11 - maybe 5.12s that I know really...

Re: Why Going Aloft On A Shackle Is A Bad Idea

That said, you are absolutely right about climbing rope vs. a...

Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

Why isn't it smashed to pieces? I thought they were always smashed to pieces in cases like that. No fiberglass boat - especially one designed by Bob Perry - can endure something like that.
