Re: Anybody missing a sailboat in the Exumas

When I was in Black Point I heard that the owner was arrested and taken to Nassau as he was threatening to kill people in Scorpios Bar. The boat was taken to the little hurricane hole next to Dotham...

Re: Beneteau USA closing operations?

In that case you should rethink the basis of your post. Just read the original thread. What do you not understand in that thread? If a boat ends up at a dealer with "a punch in it" does that mean...

Re: Beneteau USA closing operations?

On what do you base this post. Have you ordered a new Beneteau? Are you experiencing problems with Anchor Yachts? (B dealer in Toronto). Are you talking about Beneteau USA ceasing production or...

Re: Beneteau Halts Production?

I bet anything that it did not leave the Beneteau plant like that. There may be structural damage. You are having serious problems with this boat. I would send an email to the president of Beneteau...

Re: In-mast (un-)furling problems

That's your problem. You must have tension on the outhaul when you furl. Ease the main, ease the vang, tension on the outhaul and grind on the furling line.

Re: In-mast (un-)furling problems

Furling mains jam when the sail is furled incorrectly. A baggy main may exacerbate the problem. As stated previously you need more weight on the outhaul as you furl. Watch the sail as it goes into...

Re: Scum and Stain Removal from Hull

Oxalic acid in all its different guises, as crystals from Home Depot. FSR from West Marine, and Barkeepers Friend from any grocery store, (my favourite). Or hull cleaner from Walmart (Attwood hull...

Re: Hughes 38' 1988

There's a guy in our club that singlehands his Hughes 38 all the time and he's in his seventies.

Re: Force 10 Igniter issue

Have you checked the battery? Also the tiny wires leave a lot to be desired.

Re: Beneteau Halts Production?

I have bought three new boats. Two in Canada and one in US. The hull # is designated in your name but until the vessel is registered or documented in your name it can be seized if the manufacturer...

Re: Beneteau Halts Production?

Interesting. I would check to see that the optional equipment was supposed to be installed by Beneteau. Big dealers install a lot of the optional equipment (that's a profit center and keeps the...

Re: Blocks, Sheaves and Pulleys: Did I screw up???

Mark,

I checked my blocks. The sheaves are a tad over an inch and the line is 3/8. They are Barton blocks (the cheapest I could find at the time). Never had a problem except once or twice...

Re: Blocks, Sheaves and Pulleys: Did I screw up???

Mark,

I have real tiny blocks on mine. Triples on the engine side and doubles on the bow. No problem at all hoisting the dink. The line must match the sheaves. Going down to the boat today,...

Re: Choosing a wind generator

I started in 1990 with a Windbugger, not the original 2 blade but a 3 blade. A bit noisy, good output but expensive parts and lots of brushes. Bugger Bob used to grind the identification marks off...

Re: Beneteau Halts Production?

Why would you fully pay for something that is yet to be delivered. When I bought my new Beneteau I put $1 down initially and only a few thousand down until the boat was commissioned and delivered. ...

Re: Boomkicker and winter storage

Why do you need a crane to remove your boom? Topping lift and a halyard should do it.

Re: Boomkicker and winter storage

I would take the boom and vang off and store them down below. Michigan is a lot different from Annapolis. And ice is not your friend!

Re: Agm expense
