Re: Making a living as a liveaboard
Has anyone run into issues with working remotely on their boat in a foreign country? I've run into tax rules about working being done in a specific country by a foreigner or for a foreign company. Or...

Maybe a Warram Tiki? This listing is so old I doubt it's still available but it says it was listed for $9k in good shape: Scott's Boat Pages: Wharram Tiki 21 For Sale in Colorado...

Cruising South America?
Does anyone have any experience with cruising South America, other than along the north coast? I just bought Jimmy Cornell's World Voyage Planner. Under it's influence, I'm wondering whether the 2-3...

Re: What would you get?? newer boat
I bought a 1998 boat with teak decks. The first owner's maintenance was limited to scrubbing and maybe a little oxalic acid or teak oil. There are no bungs which means no fasteners through the deck....

Re: What would you get?? newer boat
The last few years of Moody's are all deck saloons and aft cockpits. The center cockpits are so nicely laid out that I'd definitely agree with the earlier poster and go for the 42CC. There's a 2001...

I know this is a joke but you can flip the colors on a macbook. In Preferences under Accessibility, there's an "Invert Colors" option.

Re: The future of the sailing world. Why are there so few young people cruising??
Depending on the jurisdiction, all you have to do is be in a area that's need for expanding an airport or running a new highway. They might choose to pay you for it but often they don't have to or...

Re: The future of the sailing world. Why are there so few young people cruising??
I expect the assumption, I'm just surprised that people so often voice it. I'm actually surprised more people don't think the former owners are my parents. Maybe I'll have to start explaining that my...

Re: The future of the sailing world. Why are there so few young people cruising??
Not yet. I wouldn't have the HR if I didn't intend to move aboard but it'll be 2-3 years. Canada in the winter is not my idea of a nice place to live on a boat. She's currently under cover on the...

Re: The future of the sailing world. Why are there so few young people cruising??
Perhaps some of these attitudes are a bit of a deterrent when young 'uns show up at the marina? Bad enough having people me that their children are older than me but now you're going to assume I...

Re: Help choosing a new MFD and Radar needed
Maine Sail, how are the Lowrance and Garmin products for adding to existing SeaTalk1 set ups? As much as I'd love to toss everything and start fresh, the money's probably better spent on new sails.

Re: Help choosing a new MFD and Radar needed
If you're headed for NFLD but don't quite make it, I'd recommend the Brad D'Or lakes in Cape Breton. But I did grow up near there so I'm pretty biased. Georgian Bay is pretty nice sailing though...

Even in benign coastal cruising, there are times pointing a decent ability to point can be really nice. On a charter cat I spent a ton of time slowly tacking through a passage wide enough to sail...

Sailing Anarchy would be a good place for this, sailnet tends to be more monoslugs and cruising cats. I've got a monoslug along with a beach cat now, I enjoy it but it's a very different kind of...

Joking aside, there's something to...
