Re: what is this 21' trailer sailor?

Re: Sailing in the Northeast; need some advice!

Ditto to the BB. Last year I lost more days to strong winds than to windless days. Good thing about the sea breeze is if it is blowing strong, it will normally calm down a bit before sunset.
We...

Re: Sunfish dry mooring near Phildelphia?

It might be stretching your 1 hour limit but Union Lake in Millville NJ is a state owned 1,000 acre lake with an active sailing club. Use to have lots of Sunfish, you might want to check into it.

Re: Articles about dredging in Barnegat Inlet

Neat articles on the inlet dredging.
Here's part of a news release my marina sent out, which may be of interest to some of you. We're on Double Creek but I think the thin water is further in since...

Re: New to using a slip

At our marina almost all boats leave their lines. Most set their lines to the length needed so they just drop the loop over the boat cleats when they return. Transients use empty slips signified by...

Re: Outboard advice needed - dealer charged install price

I put a Yamaha 9.9 on my 4200 lb O'day 25. I appreciated the power when running head on into heavy chop with 20+ wind. A big difference between the Tohatsu and Yamaha is that the Yamaha has the...

Re: Maine expensive winter storage

Just for comparison, the Barnegat Bay NJ marina I am in charges $795 for mast up winter storage. Includes cradle, haul, power wash and launch. 25' O'day.
I thought that was pretty reasonable. Not...

Re: Flying Scot - did I buy the wrong boat?

I do not know how a newbie in sailing, who does not know how much he wants to invest in the sport, does not know what type of sailing he wants to do, or even if he will get sea sick, can pick a boat...

Re: Rotten Luck - Stays & Dinghy Question

I agree that you are very lucky and should probably take it down a notch or two in your trust of your dad's sailing experience. No insults intended. His experience may be in the many other areas of...

Re: Great Bay, NJ and the Great Bay Marina

I took my ASA101 at the school at Cedar Creek Marina. I liked the location and it seemed like a friendly group. It would be an option if we ever want to move further north on the BB.

Re: Oday 240 (wing keel) vs Oday 25 (cb shoal)

Taking a look at sailboatdata.com the draft of the 240 is just a couple more inches than the 25. OAL is a couple inches more on the 25. The cabin top shape is different. The cabin layout is probably...

Re: Looking to get first boat

When you get into outboards over 8hp or so, electric start and charging is common. My Yamaha 9.9hp pushes my 25 O'day fine and has electric start and charging. I checked Tohatsu outboards and they...
