A different kind of watermaker

This could be interesting. I wonder how a slightly larger version would work on a boat, especially if it were solar powered:

Re: Columbia 28

C22's are great boats, but I'd also include the C25 in there. Still trailerable, but more comfortable for a small family, especially if you're going to be staying overnight on the boat.

Opening/sealing an electric motor (AutoHelm ST3000)

I managed to get an AutoHelm ST3000. It is broken, but from the sounds of it, I think I just need to replace the brushes and the drive motor should work again. I'm having trouble, though, prying up...

Re: Islander 36 projects in paradise!!!!!

Christian, the fact that you don't have a boat (or that yours is for sale) doesn't mean you have to stop coming here.

Re: Which banks should I wire my alternators to?

It's been a while since I've done any work along these lines, but what about putting diodes in line with the chargers/alternators? The diode would keep the current from finding its way out of one...

Re: Foam for cushions?

We saw BottomSiders at the Annapolis show...pretty slick. If/when we replace our cockpit cushions, I think that's the way I'd go. I'm a bit leery about their ability to withstand pointy objects,...
