Re: Bermuda to host AC 35, sources say

And so it is. Bermuda.

San Diego is not mentioned, even for ACWS, but there appear to be a few slots to fill. Chicago might be one of them. Very glad to see Gothenburg in ACWS as well.

Good to...

Re: Bermuda to host AC 35, sources say

The official declaration of venue occurs at 8:30am (PST). Bermuda (or, technically, San Diego). I wonder if all the venues for the ACWS have been worked out yet? I know some have.

Anyhow, the...

Re: Bermuda to host AC 35, sources say

The new formula is "AC 62", which means a 62' boat rather than a 72'. I agree about wanting them smaller than the 72's. For me, it's kind of about wanting to see boats of a similar size to production...

Re: Four venues vie to host 35th Americas Cup

Some others agree.
America's Cup: Why not Newport? >> Scuttlebutt Sailing News (http://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2014/06/09/americas-cup-newport/)

I respect that decision, though. The RI people...

Re: AC 35 Challenger of Record

Sublime as in actually moderate? I'm American. Never been to Oz. But I stereotype the country is being blazing hot all the time. I'm sure I'm way off base, but I've never been.

Good points,...

Re: AC 35 Challenger of Record

Nice to see the momentum for 35 starting right immediately. I don't know anything about WS Islands, but their largest locality appears to be only 10,000. I guess the area is around the Reef. I'm...

Re: AC 34 - What If?

This has been rather bizarre to watch. I'm no sailor. Just a fairly casual, but interested fan.
I missed todays races due to a soccer match I had committed to going to. But I was completely shocked...

Re: AC 34 - What If?

I like Omatako's idea. 45's with foils. I just can't get over how tall these boats are. They just don't seem to resemble even slightly many of the boats that Joe Budweiser owns at his harbor in, say,...

Re: AC 34 - What If?

Good question on Julie's part, but AFAIK, manatee is right. First team to the majority of 17.

I really like this format of this many races, but the racing hasn't been terribly exciting to me. I'm...

Re: Another Americaís Cup entry destroyed

The thread has gotten long. I was up in Hollywood when this horrible accident occurred to my favorite team. But I'll chime in briefly anyhow.

I do like the look of the boats. And it took me a...

Re: Team Oracle Boat Capsizes

Now that I've gotten used to seeing cats so much, I can't say I favor one or the other now. Heck, wasn't one recent AC a cat vs. a mono? If parity could be somewhat ensured, I wouldn't mind a broad...

I went today. First race 11:30 am. For those that do have cars, yes there is that 5-Star lot across the tracks, IIRC. Looked like it was convenient for them. I walked a few blocks to Park...

A joke?! I wasn't aware that their hosting the AC dates to as late as 1983. I also haven't ever been to RI, so I have no clue what Npt. is like, except for it being coastal.

Hello, all...

Not sure who might post on Scuttlebutt, but that's where I have posted in the past (and will continue to, I assume). This site seems lots more navigable, though.

My father used...
