Re: Royal Carribbean Ship caught in extreme storm

Anthem of the Seas is one of their newest and biggest ships - Quantum Class. Despite its size, it took a beating.
My wife and I are looking at a New England/Canada cruise this Aug/Sept. We're...

Re: Calling all catalina 38 owners!

I've got a C34 and can't imagine any owners' websites that could be any better than it. C34.org is very active and I've gotten answers for any and all my questions. Have learned tons about my boat...

Re: Catalina 30 or 34 for SF bay?

Go over the C34.org The Cat34 owners group. I used to have a C30 and now have a C34, but I'm on the east coast and can't answer your question about SF. I'm sure some of the west coast guys there...

Does a good job for me. You can't beat the price and ease of application.

Re: Is it safe to sleep overnight at the marina?

It all comes down to location...location...location.
At our marina, (she never has) but my wife would not hesitate to stay alone on the boat, and I would let her. I might add that our boat cannot...

Re: Newbie Questions: How do you lock the boat?

Every marina is different. When going to a new marina, keep a low profile and keep your eyes and ears open to learn the nuances of the marina...what is and isn't acceptable

Re: Electrical system- Catalina 25

You can get 2 FLA batteries for less than the cost of 1 AGM battery and they will probably give you better service.

Re: Electrical system- Catalina 25

Way overkill in my opinion. Just get a decent pair of group 27's DEEP CELL. For heaven's sake, all you have is a Honda 9.9. A lawn mower battery will start that. And if by some chance, your...

Re: Electrical system- Catalina 25

No question that AGM's are top of the line, but are expensive. Just buy 2 decent brand, wet cell, deep cell batteries. No need for a starting battery and don't buy the dual purpose battery. A...

Re: Dry docking a 29' boat (impossible dream?)

Agree with miatapaul. Unless you can find cheap storage (not likely) the cost of storage vs the value of the boat...it just doesn't add up.
Glad I don't live in the high rent district. For about...

Re: living aboard in Los Angels (Marina Del Rey) ?

It says 3 days max UNLESS authorized by the dockmaster. Once you have his blessings, you can apply for a permit with the harbormaster. The dockmaster does not issue the permit, but you need his...

Re: Marina Del Rey Liveaboard

jjstick,
This is a 9 year old thread and neither noboatjim or booty have posted anything on sailnet in years. I doubt you will be hearing from either.
Why not check around with some local marinas...

Re: surveyors near rock hall/annapolis

I used Fred Wise (Fred Wise Yacht Surveyors) and found him to be very good. He's located pretty close to Rock Hall. That's where my boat was.
FYI...Annapolis is a pretty far drive to Rock Hall and...

Re: Boat Hauling

You might get better responses in the general discussion forum. The info you need is really not boat brand dependent.

Re: Yamaha 15hp vs. 20hp

Very typical with a number of OB mfgs to have 2-3 different HP motors that appear to be the same motor. From what I understand, it's usually a difference in carboration that makes up the difference...

Re: Tartan 31 and CNG

Other than availability, it's no more a pain in the ass than propane.
And as far as safety....I worry more about sitting on top of 15-20 gallons of gas in my car than I do about my CNG tank.

Re: Tartan 31 and CNG

There's bound to be someone within a reasonable distance to you. It took some digging on my part, but I found someone fairly close by and since I've only filled my tank twice in 5 years, it's no big...

Re: Would anybody be interested in an electric outboard like this?

If the propeller is so efficient, seems like the gas OB mfgs would be jumping all over it to improve their own performance.

I'm sorry, but I come from the old school that believes "if it sounds to...

Re: Dinghy outboard registration?

A few years ago, a couple of young kids were cruising around the marina in their dink with an electric motor. They got pulled and since dad was close by, he got a ticket for no registration.
