15000 for the 37.5 17900 for the 37c. The 37 usually came in a little heavier.

Nice write up on your choice of boat. We sold our Hunter 37 last fall and bought a Gulfstar 50 ketch. The sail on the ketch you saw is called a mule sail.

Yes vang/ preventer, they are clipped to the staysail tracks to keep the side decks clear at dock side and sailing at higher angles. They would be moved to the rail more off the wind.

Bob I'm sure you had nothing to do with the race results :D. You are correct in that a "slow" boat sailed well makes others take notice. Everyone expects a J boat to be fast.

Also check to make sure your sail areas are measured the same. Sometimes on cutters or ketches they don't list the stay sail or mizzen area. A place to check sail area is Sailrite web site they have...
