Smile Re: British Columbia wilderness, sometime in next 3 years, any exp

Thanks. It had left me wondering. I was sailing an unsinkable (though "capsizable") boat. I was on the east side when becalmed. I'm guessing I might still be there still if I hadn't hitched a...

Re: British Columbia wilderness, sometime in next 3 years, any exp

OK. I've been waiting a LONG time for a reply to this. But none has come. Exactly why did he have to be RESCUED?

Re: Sailboat under $5000 for Puget Sound

Smile Re: Details on this 'lost at sea' story?

It was offered as a best guess. You even quoted me saying that. Evidentally, you failed to notice what you quoted.

I think one should debate why a boat disappears. It might save somebody else. ...

Re: Details on this 'lost at sea' story?

I think we can guarantee that because, had they bought it "subject to survey", the owner would have had to correct the faults to get his price. It meant they were trying to get a boat for less than...

Unhappy Re: Details on this 'lost at sea' story?

They last pulled in with a "broken boom" nailed together with two 2x4's. This suggests a wooden boom. For a wooden boom to break at sea is to me, unheard of. It suggests to me the boom was rotted...

I'm interested in a Prout 39 and notice a very large number of 93's for sale. Anyone know why this is?

Smile Re: Details on this 'lost at sea' story?

Crossing in October was probably the mistake. November and they might have made it.

Re: Blue Water School of Sailing - Ft. Lauderdale, FLA

The class may someday save your future boat and you.

I would not take a class just to try out random brands. Would I charter a boat I'm specifically interested in? Yes. Does that mean I'll...
