It's actually a rather poor diagram.

The macerator should have its own thru hull, because the outlet of the macerator is much smaller than the head outlet.

Therefore, that Y valve isn't needed....

Anything intermittent like that is an electrical connection going south.

Check the main engine ground first, it might look good, but pull hard on it, and remove it and clean it.

Check the fuse...

For standard boat electrical systems, I'd still rather have a solid basic system, including a healthy house bank...

Why bother lugging something else around? Design & install a reliable electrical system, house bank and reserve, and leave the extra stuff at the dock.

PRISM is a great product for total cleanup. Comes in a small plastic jar, like cold cream. A little goes a long way. Cost about $13.
