Re: Fells Point/Baltimore Docking

Ticketing update:

Someone posted on ActiveCaptain that they received a warning summons near the Fells Point Bonaparte restaurant on 10/1/13 and were told to move.

Re: Fells Point/Baltimore Docking

We chose Henderson's Wharf when we were in the city because of the great location and ample parking. We love sailing the harbor with everything going on but decided to move because of the several...

Re: Fells Point/Baltimore Docking

The tickets were being handed out to people tied to the wharfs, not the piers. As far as I know Broadway pier is still fine but the cop seemed more interested in ticketing than following a set of...

Re: Fells Point/Baltimore Docking

Docking in Fells Point has historically provided great social experiences for us that are not available on the hook. Regarding the signs they harken back to a day that is no longer relevant...

Re: Wallops Island Rocket Launch

A few years ago we headed north from Yorktown planning to watch an early evening orbital shot out of Wallops. It was delayed until 2330 by which time we were off Solomons Island. All I can say about...

Fells Point/Baltimore Docking

In the past I posted that docking in Fells Point was acceptable along all the public docks regardless of signage, and that was true then. Unfortunately last year one friend received a hefty fine...

Re: Nuclear s(n)ubs

Totally missed the point.

Sparks is in a windowless steel tube and has no situational awareness of the surface or traffic. Hardly a good choice to communicate with recreational traffic.

Sparks...

Re: Nuclear s(n)ubs

Knothead,

I just re-read my post and realized it was too curt, even rude. Sorry.

On that sub are 100+ crew below who have little insight into the conditions and boat traffic on the surface....

Re: Nuclear s(n)ubs

There is no snub. There is no psychological intimidation. There is no VHF radio operator per se. You are applying descriptions of the situation that do not exist.

There is a crew maneuvering a...

This is irrelevant to a question about American subs. Your friend was at fault in...

Re: Nuclear s(n)ubs

My sub skipper despised sailboats (probably why I have one). His #1 rule-of-the-road is the law of HY-80 steel (the pressure hull material). Yes, that is arrogant. On the other hand it always amazed...

Re: Big goals or big dreams?

Sure it counts on personal vessel. More if you ask me as you did "it" on your own. Can you imagine rounding the world on a personal sailboat and anybody taking issue with your hanging an award on...

Re: Big goals or big dreams?

I have a couple of friends that sold their business three years ago. Had never sailed. Bought a catamaran in Lake Ontario and headed south learning as they went from books and friends. Are now on...
